Trac builders do not give the super excellence in work that some of the smaller builders do. Pulti...Schulti are bigger than Dan Ryan Builders but they all fall into the "Get the nail job done in a hurry' category...they are trac builders...
I watched Pulti build 1800 homes near Leesburg in 16 months (1985)...I'm sure they are about to fall down now if they are still standing..
A lot of it depends on the quality of the subs...but they are under constant pressure to be on Lot # 458 at 2 pm to do the framing and Lot # 459 at 4 pm...get the picture?
Something has to suffer under the horrible time pressure...that is the quality of the 'nail job'...good luck, if this a short term temporary housing that you will sell. that's the key...selling it and not staying until the walls begin to buckle.

Yeah- the house we lived in (and loved) in Inwood was totally custom/self built. I knew every stud, nail, nut and bolt. I also knew every defect, flaw and rough spot.

I wouldn't buy a mega builder home. Allen sticks to about 100 homes p/yr and sells excess lots to a mix of small guys and mega builders..
