Pssst, gdude...
I think I saw in an earlier post that you live in Indiana. SSI is a federal program, so there are people in Indiana that receive it too.
For example, federal payments to the deaf or blind comes from the SSI program.

that is very surprising for WV i have always thought the air there was contaminated because i have always been told that things like black lung disease are still rampant there because it is carried by air?

would you seriously give it up...you live in Indiana! surely it's time to go plant some corn or tend to the livestock, you don't need to keep repeating the same stuff over and over again. Yes WV has high poverty rates but I can't figure out how that is any different from the economically depressed Gary area or the extreme rural partys of your state? Yes certain parts are (or were) polluted, we've established that about 1000 times again, Indiana is part of the rust belt so I'm not sure how pollution didn't occur there.
I live in the DC area but grew up in WV and have traveled to Indiana...believe me, nothing I saw indicated that your state was somehow a mecca of prosperity or superior to WV in anyway.

Yes, yes, you and all your friends should stay well clear! Don't risk venturing into WV, who knows what ailments may be brought on by contaminant free air and water!! And sheesh, the poor hungry people here might just eat you 'cause food is so scarce. Best if you plan your drive to avoid WV; and be sure not to make eye contact with any West Virginians you come across in your travels- they may be trolling for victims to drag back home to feed to the hogs.
... now get back to your school work and stop goofing off!

Just FYI. Black lung is one of a family of occupational lung diseases (Pneumoconiosis), caused by the inhalation of dust. In the case of black lung, it's coal dust, and those who get it are almost all coal miners. It is not carried in the open air.
Other forms of Pneumoconiosis include asbestosis, silicosis, and bauxite fibrosis.
Greater awareness of the disease, and regulations contained in the Mine Safety Act of 1969, have reduced the occurrence of Black Lung Disease by about 90%.

Indiana has it's share of poverty and welfare families, crime, meth labs, dirty politics, lost jobs, drunk drivers, obese women and roads that lead you through large pig farms. How long can you hold your breath?
BTW, citydata.com does have a feature someplace that lets you research chemical pollutants by county and specific location. I would research that prior to buying a house.
As for Parkersburg, i did notice signs that said "polymer friendly zone' or something of that nature. Is that related to all the chemical pollution?
