Just some questions....
What would you consider to be a good county to live in?
Is it hard to find Jobs? as in RN/Nursing jobs?
and were looking to find a rural area with lots of space (with or without a house already built on it) how hard and how much would it cost to buy an area like that?

Hello..let me introduce our family.I and 28 and my husband is 36. We are born and raised in beautiful west virginia and would highly recommend it to anyone. We have a beautiful 7,000sq foot home with TONS of space and every persons dream but we have decided to downsize and move to our other land where our kids will have all 8 acres of flat land. We really will miss our home here right outside of town but still secluded, but we want to move to the fields as well. Anyways, we have our house up for sale now and i would highly recommend anyone that was thinking of moving to West Virginia Mod Cut Im sure you will love the scenes here and with over 37 acres how could you go wrong? If your looking for a nice, quiet place with big heated pool and a new home to call your own..look no farther! Love to hear your thoughts on our home..
and yes....they are always hiring at the hospital which is only 10 minutes away

You've advertised your property all over several threads in violation of the terms of service of this site.

Hello,
I just read your story on how you admire Charleston, WV. I am Dutch and my wife is from your state NJ. We currently live in Nevada (5 years now) and before we lived for about one year in Florida. Before that we lived in The Netherlands. We are looking into moving. We want to see trees and seasons again. One of our choices is also indeed WV, Charleston. How are the job opportunities there? According to statistics unemployment seems low, but when I read other webs then it seems that WV is very low ranked. We are not looking for high paid jobs. Just clerical or Customer service. Just making a living and enjoy beauty of nature.

Lewisburg. I'm 25, married with one son, and an RN. My wife and I are currently living in Parkersburg and going to visit Lewisburg, WV this week. Camden Clark in Parkersburg is a nice little hospital.

Three times larger? I don't think so. Huntington = 48K give or take, and Morgantown = 29K. That is 19K larger, not three times, but the two counties... Cabell and Monongalia are about the same population. Most of the population around Morgantown lives out of the city limits. However, I agree with you that both are great places to live... Huntington has a blue collar character while Morgantown is more academically inclined. It just depends on what one wants, but both are nice.

Maybe GHO was referring to land area, not population? No, that's not it, Morgantown is slightly under 10 sq mi, Huntington just under 16, so the densities are about the same.
We'll just be charitable and, as the politicians say, say he "misspoke".

I think he was referring to the MSAs as the Huntington MSA is sometimes credited with having 300,000 people while the Morgantown MSA has 116,000 people. I think the more accurate numbers are 286,000(Huntington) to 116,000(Morgantown) or a difference of 170,000 or just under 2.5 times the population. Morgantown's MSA has 2 counties while Huntington's MSA contains 5 counties. And the more accurate numbers for Cabell and Monongalia Counties is 94,435 (cabell) to 87,516(Mon) so a difference of just under 7,000. But CT is right, both are nice places with their own perks.

True enough. The MSA disignation is arbitrary in many cases. For example, the 5 county area included in Huntington's MSA is about in about the same area as three different North Central MSAs, and Fairmont is as close to Morgantown as Ironton is to Huntington but they put it in a different MSA. Also, the entire North Central region is considered part of some kind of larger designation for a Greater Pittsburgh region. The whole notion doesn't make much sense in many ways.
The Wheeling and Steubenville MSAs used to be combined. They split them, but it is still like one town travelling from one to the other. And Weirton is just over 20 miles from Pittsburgh but is lumped in the Steubenville MSA rather than the Pittsburgh MSA. Who knows what criteria they use? It is really not logical.

As Mark Twain wrote (borrowing from Benjamin Disraeli):
There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics.
