Ahh snow. I'm like you I love it and can't get enough of the white fluffy stuff Our favorite snowy areas are Elkins and Beckley and in that order. Hope you find your snowy dream home.

Default Preston County

I am a big fan of Preston county. There are good values to be found on houses and land. Terra Alta, Kingwood, Bruceton Mills and Masontown are all small communities with a friendly atmosphere. You can get to I-68 and I-79 fairly quickly. You are not far from Maryland, or Pennsylvania. The seasons are quite distict and the Fall foliage is absolutely beautiful. Morgantown, WV is a short drive away and has many amenities found in larger cities. Good luck on your quest.

If it's really the snow you want, try Maine or New Hampshire. You have 4 seasons, without the very hot humid weather you get here. Just moved from Maine to WV this past August and I'm missing it already.

Good luck!

I definitely agree with 'snorpus,

Beckley, Elkins, Canaan is the best areas for snow...all have ski resorts so basically always get snow...Beckley is sort of close to charleston would say charleston but snow isn't alwas guaranteed.

Elkins is by far your best bet. It gets a decent amount of snow, and the areas in the mountains get a lot more snow, canaan and snowshoe. With snow though come many problems, especially with icy streets. But the Elkins City street department is probably the best prepared city in WV for snow and the best equipment to handle it. Summers can be very warm in the summer and cool summer nights in the mid 50-60's are not uncommon. Good Luck Any questions feel free to ask

Looks like the mountains will be getting a pretty good snowfall this Sunday. For those of you wondering, even in WV it's pretty unusual to get heavy snow in mid-April.

It started snowing one hour after the movers dropped off our furniture here in January and it has snowed almost every two weeks since. The most we have seen is about 4-5 inches at a time.

We broke our snow shovel and neighbors helped out. Wonderful place to live if you like snow.
