There are a number of sites with the info about Shain Gandee.
This seems to be the most complete at this time.
Interesting which newspapers picked it up.

This has really blew up news wise, with this tragic incident and Salwa Amin's alleged dope running, you would think MTV would cancel this, but they will continue with Season 2 and probably film the funeral as well. MTV will milk this for every rating they can. How a simple show about country kids partying and having fun lost its way...

On a sidenote, I think West Virginia has a Curse(no pun intended) that affects us and follows us wherever we go. WV has some of the worst luck in the world.

That's sad, it's all over the news. Out of everyone on the show I liked him the most, funny as monkey. I wonder if they will be making a second season of Buckwild now? hmmmm

Young men his age are being killed in foreign lands every little bit but it doesn't get anywhere close to the attention this has.

It is not at all uncommon for reality show stars to "fall" in a variety of ways. The Buck wild cast have already had a drug bust and DUI arrest among them - and then this. But you can look at any countless number of reality shows and find people who have gone bankrupt, lost their homes and spouses, fallen into drug use, or worst case, even lost their children or died themselves - and these are shows that are filmed in a variety of places outside of West Virginia, by the way.

And I do agree with another comment that it would be nice if troop stories got as much attention as stuff like this. I feel sorry for this kid's family, but anyone who watched the show could see that when you put fame and money into the hands of young rowdy kids - very few times does good come out of it. Maybe the show will be cancelled and those who remain in that group might, just might, learn something from it.

I haven't paid any real attention to MTV since they cancelled Beavis And Butthead.
