Meyer's Hardware in Clarksburg
Can anyone tell me if Meyer's Hardware still exists in downtown Clarksburg? It might be spelled Myer's, it's been many years. I use to work there part time back in my college days and it was a great little family owned hardware store. It was the first time I learned that you bought nails by the pound, window screen by the roll and I could cut & thread black pipe for you while you waited. Boy, I sure do miss that place and all the old customers I had. It was great really. If you were quite the salesman, the regular customers would come to you directly because they knew you would take care of their needs. I really do miss those days.

Reb:
Downtown Clarksburg is a ghost town and much of it is being scheduled for demolition...urban renewal...
Bridgeport has killed them dead with their tremendous growth...Over 2 billion in investment expansion...
too many crooks in C'burg and Sen.RCB cut them out of the pie.

Meyers Hardware
LSR - I currently live and work in Bridgeport, WV (Harrison Co.) Although I was raised in Lewis County I asked a co-worker who is more familiar with the store. He stated that Paul Meyers Hardware closed about 15 years ago due to a fire.
In reading your other posts, I see that you are moving. Perhaps to our area since you inquired about a store from your college days?
Whatever your choice.....good luck with your moving and downsizing.

I was thinking originally about the Fairmont-Clarksburg area but my brother would like me closer so, it looks like Weirton is the best choice. He's my older sibling and not in the best of health (according to him) and he thinks the drive from the Pittsburgh area to Clarksburg would be too much for him to handle. He says he can take the hour commute from Pittsburgh to Weirton with no problem.
