Default Shepherdstown University Athletics

How are the Shepherdstown University athletics; such as the football, basketball and soccer programs? Worth checking out a game? I think I read on the college website that they are a D2 school. Do any towns people attend the games or mostly students?

From what I could tell from my time at Shepherd University is that the towns people do sometimes get actively involved in school sports (at times moreso than the students). The football stadium is rather small (the one at my high school was double the size for a perspective) seating probably up to one or two thousand which can be good considering you don't have the massive traffic jams going into town on game days. The football program is awesome and has gone either undefeated or close to it for the past several seasons. The game atmosphere would be nice for any kid because you don't have really any belligerent drunks present like at larger universities, at least not that I ever noticed.

One thing the people of Shepherdstown seemed to really take advantage of were the many cultural performances at the university. When I was there I always could find a nice art show or theatre performance going on, attended by a mix of college students and locals.

I know Shepherd College upset my graduate alma mater, Indiana University of Pennsylvania, in the Division II football playoffs in either 1998 or 1999 (when I was a student at IUP). I think Shepherd has remained a football power since then.
