Come to Ohio. Thats what i did. Columbus metro and Cincy metro all have 7 fortune 500 companies. You will find more oppurtunity in Ohio than in WV. Dublin,Hilliard,Granville all suburbs of Columbus have great schools and they are very safe towns. Dublin is the HQs to Wendys fastfood chain. In the Cincinnati metro you will find Hamilton,Middletown all have great schools and are very safe. There is more oppurtunity and more to do in Ohio. You have Paramounts Kings Island and Cedar Point just a few hours if not even that from these cities that bring in some of the highest visitors from across the country. Im just giving you options. I moved to Ohio from PA and i really like Ohio. But best of luck with your move and whatever you find.

I wouldn't go to Bluefield, West Virginia is the third worst school system in the States, thank god for Mississippi and NM! If you want that rural area, try VA. Lexington, or further north there is Winchester. Blacksburg is nice as well. I went to college in Athens, WV which was lovely.

Really, what's so bad about the Bluefield school system? Is only the WV side of the city bad? I thought it would have been a pretty nice place to live.

Investigate the Wheeling, WV area.

It's in the northern part of the state in one of the panhandles. It's a smaller city, but has various opportunities due to the fact that Pittsburgh, PA is only about 65 miles or so to the East of it, and Columbus, OH is only about 70 miles West. So you get the small city feel and slowness, but you are within reasonable range of two larger markets if you need them for shopping, jobs, etc.

Default RE: Looking To Move

Bluefield is not that bad in my opinion, overall. I travel through Bluefield when I travel between Georgia and West Virginia. Bluefield is a small town with 12,000 people and has a great Southern atmosphere to it, but there may not be a whole lot of jobs in that area though.

WV- homeward bound is on a distinguished road
Please look into Harpers Ferry / Charles Town WV. It is a booming area. They just completed a new middle school and are planning on building a new high school. You may look into Martinsburg WV too.

Harpers ferry is being built up with new subdivisions, restaurants. We have 4 grocery stores - WalMart, Food Lion, Martins, Weis. 84 Lumber, Home Depot, Ruby Tuesdays, TGIF, and Quiznos restaurants. There are some better restaurants that are not associated with chains - Mom & Pop businesses. There is Shepard University in Shepards Town WV. It is a good school to get a teaching degree.

Close to VA, where you can get a good paying job. Good Luck.
