smitche2 is on a distinguished road
Ridgeley, WV is actually really great because it has the great mountain atmosphere yet Cumberland, MD is right across the river and full of shopping and restaurants. Both towns are full of historic attractions, yet Cumberland often has activities in the historical downtown portion for children. I think that the Farmer's Market during the week was great, when I was young there were sometimes face painting, etc there. Heritage Days (every June) is amazing in Cumberland, Fort Cumberland's tunnels are opened up and the festival is fun for children and adults alike. I would recommend coming during Heritage Days. Stay/ camp in or outside of Ridgeley and take part of the festival during the day. Both towns are so friendly and relaxed, I know you'll enjoy them...http://www.heritagedaysfestival.com/...7ADBF%26sa%3DN
