I was born and raised and still live in southern WV, and believe me when I say it has become the Land of Hillbilly Junkies. Several of my co-workers have been fired because they failed a drug test. My dad said he dreaded giving random drug testing where he worked because he knew he was going to lose his best employees. I heard of one coal mine around the Kanawha Valley where drug testing resulted in the firing of one-third of the work force. A guy who works across from the methadone clinic in Beaver told me that there is at least one car every 30 to 60 seconds in and out of that place. I know of a business in Hinton where the drug addicted employee stole a 10,000 dollar camera and pawned it for 150 dollars so that employee could buy drugs. For the last several nights people have come to the business where I work to cut the catalytic converters off of our fleet of vehicles to sell for scrap. One of our employees said how people in Boone County cut the utility poles down with chain saws to get the wire to sell for scrap. Last year someone went in a coal mine in Fayette County to steal wire and got trapped. Some of my relatives in WV have succumbed to drug addiction. My step sister in Beckley and cousin in Huntington have been confronted in parking lots for money. Drug dealers in Detroit call Huntington "Moneyton" because it is so profitable to them. And everyone knows that Ocenana is "Oxyana", where my co-worker told me that she went to five funerals from drug overdoses in one year. And the law enforcement in Southern WV is so hapless to stop this crime wave. I see the Raleigh County deputies trying to catch speeders, but what are they doing to clamp down on the rampant petty crime that funds a drug addicted epidemic? What is the WV government doing to make scrap dealers accountable for the role they play in this crime wave? And as for what am I doing to make the situation better - well I never used any illegal drugs, work an honest job and pay taxes, and am raising our child drug free in an honest Christian home. Which is more than I can say for some of my fellow West Virginians. I have talked to people in other states about visiting WV as a tourist, and I have told them, "Stay away. It's not safe any more."

You certainly seem consumed and obsessed by what goes on around you. People should be fired if they test positive in a random drug test, being drugged up at work is a safety issue for all concerned. But, if you just live your life in the way that you indicate, you'll be fine.
Tell that to my co-workers that got their catalytic converters cut off last night. Now they're out 300-1200 dollars. Not my idea of fine. And who in their right mind wouldn't be consumed by watching their formerly safe hometown decline to that point? It's people like me that are sounding the alarm that "enough is enough" that are doing something about it, not just brushing it off. People like me are intelligent enough to piece together trends over time and draw conclusions, and have a vision for positive change, not apathy. Maybe if the people of WV would obsess and be consumed over where their children are, who they are hanging around, and what they are doing, WV would still have the very low crime rates that we used to enjoy.

One way to slow the drug problem or epidemic, Would be to have all schools do a random mandatory drug testing in all schools from kindergarten to high school, This is where it starts and this is where it has to STOP!!!!!!
A clinic is our area give out the drug and increase the dose if the addict even as much says they are having a hard time. This is first hand information. My relatives pulled their son from the clinic after a couple of years, took him to his work and made him resign from his job (at a reputable company where his junkie friends worked.)...took him home and was on complete lock down for over 2 weeks with constant supervision. It was not an easy circumstance to observe and possibly not healthy for him as the clinic preachs you must lower the dose and come off the drug slowly. They will keep you coming back for years on end and supporting your drug habit!! It was a tough choice but he is now the better for it. He has been clean for a couple of years. He finds it hard to believe that he was once one of them and thanks his family every day for what they did for him.

I would be pleased to allow my child to be tested for drugs every year in school. Though this would be expensive to the school systems and/or state, it pales in comparison to the social and financial costs associated with drug addicitons and associated crimes. We could forward this suggestion to our state delegates.
I just also found out that the druggies are watching people go in the restaurants at the Harper Road exit (Exit 44 I think) off the Turnpike. If the woman is not carrying a purse, they know that the purse is in the car under a coat or in the trunk. So they know which cars to target while the people are inside eating. Unbelievable.

That's the kind of people i love to tackle and citizens arrest! I've done that at Southridge Sam's Club three years ago, i caught a man stealing a womans purse off her shoulder, and i ran him down, tackled him (former college football player) and got the purse back, then he jumped up and tried to run away, ran to a car, and i bent the hinges back on his old rusty beater of a car door so it wouldn't shut, lol. For some reason i had this crazy strength from the adrenaline rush!
Sam's Club surveilence cameras got it all on tape, and the Charleston PD was soon there to thank me. I ended up getting free movie tickets for Marquee Cinemas and a free meal at one of the restaraunts nearby.
CPD said they were going to send the tape to Real TV, but i don't think anything ever came of it.

I do that all the TIME. Guess I will stop it today!!
Drug testing is here to stay...it's a matter of choice...dope or job...It's coming to the mines, trucking, and every other profession...mostly in the line of work place safety and liability...I subbed into a hospital a few years ago and the drug passing ratio in that field was 10%...one out of ten applicants passed the drug screen....couldn't afford the lawsuits from the actions of druggies in their workplace...
