Work can be found anyplace. Question is- What do you want to do, and what do you need to make? Once you supply a bit more info, I'm certain someone around here will be able to offer you some substantive advice.

jobs can be found anyplace, but high paying careers with room for promotion and corporate growth are next to impossible to find anywhere in WV, this includes Moorefield. And ditto what katie1 said, my family has a vacation home about 30 miles from Moorefield, it is ALL chicken processing plants. The smell can get pretty bad from time to time....

I'm willing to sacrifice a high paying career for the peace and quiet of rural life in WV. I guess it goes back to my opening- gotta know what you want out of life, and go where you can make it happen for yourself. Yeah, those chicken plants can really smell. Rt 13 in VA has a couple- we have to close the windows and turn off the vents when we go through there. I suppose you get used to it if you live there though. ~Mark |

Zac said he was looking for a j o b...Moorefield has plenty...
My oldest sons first jobs were in Harrisonburg...about 45 miles away. The job unloading live turkeys paid $12.50 per hour...his second job at Hardee's paid $5.50 per hour. That was in 1990. Wages have improved significantly since then...those terrible jobs put a few thousand dollars in his pocket that summer and he has never looked back. He was a high school Junior. He never got into any trouble because he was exhausted from the two jobs... That money paid for his first car and expenses deep into the next school year. the following year he went back for more and worked that summer too. That job set him on a future course of hard work that has been exceptionally rewarding. I'm glad those processing plants were there..they taught him that with using his brain a different choice could be made...one not so much of dutiful work but of service and the extension of oneself to reach a higher plateau. The next year, against my choosing, he began a career in the Army...that resulted in a reward for his very hard work and dedication...a free pass to the University of Colorado School of Medicine. He now is in charge of his work shift and only supervises the Cesarian births...takes the reigns if there is some abnormality...Is returning to Colorado this fall and will take his master classes to gain teaching his teaching credentials... a lot can be said about a chicken/turkey factory...we never quite know just where they might lead... |
