Default Where are the Sublets???

Ahoy future neighbors -
My family and I are relocating to the wonderful slow paced world of WV. We are extremely excited and look forward to getting out of the hustle and bustle of a philly suburb in South Jersey. We are signing a contract on a home (in one of those new developments, locals be nice in Hedgesville tomorrow. Will be working in Reston - yea I know bout an hour and a half commute. Will to make the sacfrice to live in tranquil WV.
I need the assistance of the locals in the Hedgesville/Martinsburg area. Our home will not be complete until Sept. We will be closing on our home in Jersey at the end of June and will require temporary accomadations until our home is completed. We are looking for a furnished 2 bedroom (anything) close to Hedgesville, as the kids will be starting school in August and we want to make sure there will be no issue's with them attending Hedgesville schools.
I cannot locate any accomdations that meet our needs on the net.
If you are aware of any sublet or accomadations the meet our needs, please do tell...
Thanks,
Steve n Mimi

You are going to run into the same situation we had. Most want a year lease. There was 1 guy that had furnished corporate apartments in Martinsburg for rent with no lease requirement but I don't see the listing in the paper. I've included the link so you can check it out daily.

Hot-Ads Martinsburg, WV

Also, I had inquired on Craig's List that had a furnished house but she wouldn't take dogs.

BTW, what subdivision are you in?

2 bedrms + KIDS dont work that way. I figure 1 bed for you & wife...but each sex of kid needs own bed room!! Boys in 1 bedrm girls in another!! Thats State law not mine... So how many KIDS what sexes?? Or are your KIDS 4 legged goats or Human children...most have no pet policies!!! [hehehehe]
There are lots of apts in Berkely Co Since the growth in population & my own child is grown...not in school...when you find a place call the school board for District.
And I was not kidding IF the subdivision you are building in allows it you could buy a used mobile for temp use or as a friend of mine did travel trailer!! What you would spend on rent you could buy out right and later resell.

If they have already signed the contract than the house should be built in 5 months...6 at the most. I don't think the kids thing would be a big deal since it is only temporary.

Also, if you do rent somewhere outside of your school district since it would only be for a month or so, I don't see why your couldn't take your papers from the builder and still register them at the correct school, you would just have to supply transportation for the time being. Especially once you get your address which is usually not too long after braking ground, you can register your kids during the summer using that address and they will not know. That is what I did, it just so happened we got to move in 3 days before school started (hectic ).

That is a nice neighborhood, we looked there also. I believe my builder Dan Ryan is building there now too. Ryan had nice homes as well.

What grades are your kids in? I have 1 at Hedgesville High and 1 at Potomack Int. I am happy with both schools.

Janipoo -
Dan Ryan is building there but not doing well. He built a bunch of specs in the community and cannot move them. We are building a "RYAN". We a looked at a bunch of different communities. We orginially were not even considering Archers Rock because of my commute to work, but when we visited the community, it just felt like home.
I have two kids moving into the high school there. My youngest is going into 9th grade oldest 12th. They are both interested in the Rumsey school. My daughter will be able to attend Rumsey, but my son will have to wait until his Junior year. We will have to contact the school this week to discuss our situation with them.
Janipoo - any other tips/local information about the area that we should be aware of?

We appreciate your feedback!

When we looked there Dan Ryan wasn't there, Centrex was, I did not like their homes at all. Here in my subdivision Dan Ryan is building more homes than the other 2 home builders, Ryan is only building towns here.

My daughter is a freshman now at Hedgesville and loves it. I wasn't sure since the school is so big but she hasn't had any problems. I would like her to go to Rumsey as well, I keep telling her to learn a trade and than she could make half way decent money part time while in college, she just doesn't know what she wants to do with future . I don't know if you know this yet but they can get a drivers license at 15, which my daughter just turned yesterday but they offer drivers ed in school so she put it to take next year.

We have been here 8 months and I am really starting to like the area, everyone is so nice and laid back. It is a joy to go shopping, I don't even mind going to WalMart anymore.
