DK IMO the moment people come together to organize power, if not correctly geared philosophically to the greater cause, you see power struggles at every level no matter the organization. PTA meetings all the way to the top, and across spanses of history.
Once that machiavellian line is crossed, justifying ANYTHING, it perverts the real cause, and hastens decay. When leadership is not in service to its own self preservation and commits themselves to the original purpose, it's a more durable arrangement. Feet and heart and brain all going in one direction consistently.
People convinced that undermining democracy is somehow helping it- I think that's hurt us more than what anyone outside could do to america. Same way that abortion clinic bombers hiding behind a catholic banner have hurt catholicism, or crusades force feeding jesus sponsored by kill thy neighbor and covet their property. Something of a revolt in the American Catholic Church is the creation of a new university called Ave Maria University near Naples, Florida. An entire new city is being built around it to the tune of 400 million dollars.

Funded primarily by Domino's Pizza owner Thomas Monaghan..seeing the social collapse caused by the problems of sexual mis-conduct of the priesthood, Mr. Monahagh decided to do something about it.

His intentions are to create a Universtiy with about 50,000 catholic students...fill the church with the staff they need from a very moral, family oriented social climate.
The school and university is pattered after the LDS city of Provo, Utah and their school, Brigham Young University...

Monahan said in a recent interview that he had owned a ball team and owned big homes and cars but none of it gave him any satisfaction...he wanted to do something with the money...which is in the billions..
He is willing to give it all away to help his faith...this is an example of the sanctity of a proper stewardship in my opinion.

The stoic nature of the church has been its great handicap...as it moves forward, it will give its people the strength they need...my Catholic friends are my best friends...as are my Jewish friends, Hindu's, Muslims, Methodists, Mormons, Baptists...ect...takes everybody.
