Mental Asylum, Weston WV
Did anyone see the show this past wednesday 4/30/08 on one of the cable channels regarding looking for ghosts in this hospital? This gothic style of the building is really something! Anyone know what plans they have for this building. Nice hotel, even if a bit creapy!

ok, so do you think it is weird creapy building, or a fine peice of gothic style that should be used for something nice? Can people get past what the building was once used for? I have an uncle that lived there for a few years, I do not think I would ever take him back there. I truly think bad things happened to him there, however for others who do not have an emotional attachment (good or bad) to it I think if someone can it should be fixed up, maybe like a spa. I know lots of $$$$ and no I do not have any, but some of the building put up today are SOOOO plain.

The Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum dates to the 1850s/60s. When constructed, it was the largest cut-stone structure in the world.
Growing up, there were two places your parents would warn you about. "You keep it up, and we'll send you to Pruntytown" and "You keep it up, and they'll be taking me to Weston".

I've heard stories about the old prison in Moundsville being haunted. Don't know if I believe this or not.

Pruntytown is the scariest place in the universe for a 12 year old boy. I'd have rather gone to Somalia than to Pruntytown.

Fear of Abandonment used as a control technique...how quaint...my parents used that old chesnut everytime we would drive through the Pruntytown campus...and point to the dorms and building...dead silence would prevail for about 30 seconds...
As we become older and wiser...our prisons become other things...
