My wife will be attending a school in Waverly WV, which I have found is right on the border of WV and Ohio. Any advice on which side of the river to move too. Taxing and cost of living information would be appreciated.

It looks like Waverly, OH is a decent drive from WV. The closest WV cities to there would be Point Pleasant or Huntington but I'm not sure how far of a drive this would be. Anyone else know?

Waverly is in West Virginia. near Vienna and Belmont.

Waverly is just a few miles up RT2 (Emerson Drive) from Parkersburg. There are a couple nice little towns on the Ohio side that are convenient to commuting to Waverly...Belpre and Marietta. The best part of those two towns is the view (you can look across the river and see West Virginia from both of them). Parkersburg and Vienna are a short drive from Waverly and both have plenty of shopping opportunities for about anything you could want. I think Williamstown is also fairly close. In as much as they are all in fairly close proximity to each other it would be easy to drive around see which fits your requirements the best. BTW, the comment about the view was just a humorous little jab at my Buckeye friends...nothing malicious intended <GRIN>.

FYI, Williamstown is directly across the river from Marietta.
I doubt the cost of living will vary too much, if the sales tax is higher on one side of the river you can just drive across to the other side. We went on a river cruise out of Marietta for my 40th HS reunion, it's a very pretty area, either side of the river. Just watch that you don't buy/rent in the flood plain. |

Sorry, misread the post. There is a Waverly, OH in the southern part of the state though.

Jesting or not, I like the logic. Pick which side of the river is best, then move to the other side for a better view of it. |

I'd live in Ohio. Just because they don't make you get your car inspected...
