I could see Walmart relocating to the Delmar Orchard Rd. area after the Mall lease expires, but I dont see them leaving Martinsburg.
I look for the county to have 3 Walmarts in the future: Inwood, Martinsburg, Spring Mills.

I heard it from my company that services Walmart and she said that they built it too close to Spring Mills. I know someone in Inwood that drives to Spring Mills Walmart because she likes it better. The Walmart at the mall is just to hard to get into.

1. I have heard several variations of the Walmart story. Someone even told me once that once both Walmart stores in Spring Mills and Inwood opened, the one in Martinsburg would become a Sam's Club. (I was told this before the mall reported it's troubles, so the deal might be off).
2. With all of the development from The Gallery and Martinsburg Station, it wouldn't surprise me if someone tried to buy land on or near Delmar Orchard Road for another Walmart. Maybe even a Costco, since it seems to be popular with the commuters.
3. Those two stores (Martinsburg, Spring Mills) aren't nearly as close together as the Cleveland stores are. I have a relative that lives up there and no lie; there's one, sometimes even two off of every single exit.

This is why I am excited about Target coming to Martinsburg. They are a little bit smaller, the quality of the products are better, they aren't as busy as Walmart (except Black Friday), and the employees seem more friendly. I only go to Walmart if I absolutely have to. -mmccul

On one of the threads here they were saying that a BJ's was opening up in Martinsburg. When I went to Kohl's in Hagerstown they are building right beside the building I was asking the clerk what was going in, she said that a Cosco's was suppose to be in there but pulled out, now it is a Ross, home and shoe store.
I also like target for home stuff, I do go to the Spring Mills Walmart a bit for picking up food, it has saved me a lot in Gas because before I had to drive 12 miles in either direction to get milk.

This is the thread you were reffering to, Janipoo. When the article was written, they stated that they wanted it to open around the same time as The Commons. From driving past the proposed site, I don't think anything will be built in time to open in six months. Plus, it wouldn't be a very pleasent shopping experience with all of that junk from Essroc directly behind it.
As for The Commons, things there will definitely open on schedule. -mmccul

Yeah, I personally don't care for BJ's, I belonged to one in Pasadena. They raised all their prices a couple of years ago and stopped selling items. Home Depot I think pulled out of the Spring Mills area, everything there off of 81 has came to a stand still.

I'm not sure what happened to the BJ's/Home Depot project. There has not been any update from the local news media and no progess on the land. This was a 'shovel ready' project when that article was posted, but nothing has started. I imagine this project stalled when the credit markets froze. The land was annexed into the city and then things stalled. I agree with the essroc comments that looks horrible, its so scattered and unorganized. There must be 20 cranes building industrial high rises, stacks, domes, and whatever else is there haha.

Like I said in a post a couple of months back, that project was to be proposed by Uniwest, which is a fairly reliable company. Their website has little to no information regarding Martinsburg. Regarding Essroc, I remember right after they built that big dome, somebody wrote in the Journal Junction, "I am so glad that Epcot is moving to Martinsburg !" Of course that was before all of the cranes, towers, metal pieces...what the hell is that stuff for anyway!?! -mmccul
