I would not pay no $600K+ for a typical small tract home in Arlington (or anywhere else with '4 season' weather). Hell; I would not pay that for that same house in SoCal either and the weather there is gorgeous 11 months out of 12 with the one 'bad' month being a total of really hot/cold (by SoCal standards)/wet days scattered throughout the year.

If given the choice between DC or Charleston; W Va's capital city wins----hands down.

since local gov't has it's hands tied behind back with limited purse, can legislation mode requiring new large construction to work with state gov't on better traffic schemes help, or is this only going to result in more opportunity for corrupt individuals shaking down commerce by greasing the road for overdevelopment?

I'm just trying to see solutions that would apply to all parties involved.
Add the above to the recent "once again" failure of zoning laws to pass in Berkeley, just plan for continued poor planned growth with plaza's, homes, on little 2 lane tar and chip roads.

Once again the developers and county cronies win, the general population lose. Remember it was the pundents who told you zoning will bring a higher tax burden, who do you think pays in the long run when there are no zoning laws to maintain proper growth?

When any DC or local developer can slap together developments without providing proper road access, nor any other infrastructure who will end up paying for the repairs and schools to handle the population influx? Sure will not be them.

I live in north Arlington and the sad thing is for the most part you cant get one of those tract homes from the 1930s and 40s for less than 800K unless they need a TON of remodeling. The 2-3 bdrm bungalows down the street are STILL selling for the mid 600s, and this is a "down" market. I love it up here though and more and more people keep moving in and paying these prices...

Being a WV native I guess I am biased, but the captial of West Virginia, Charleston is by far the most beautiful in the nation. The complex alone wins.

Crank the winter temps in Charleston an average of 10 degrees higher and we will talk

How's Jefferson County looking as far as growth? I know they are adding a new AAA size high school next fall.

I'm suprised to hear that Morgan County is experiencing growth from Winchester, how's that so? Wouldn't Jefferson/Berkeley see more growth from VA, and Morgan County see more growth from Frederick, MD area expansion?
