Mr. MoJo IS coal...south of us in a very small town sits his coal fired electric power plant.
Mr. MoJo will bring coal to fuel here and he will have several fingers in the pie. If it can be done with public money so much the better.
If I recall, the chinese were to build 200 of these plants in China. Their idea is to control the growth of their economy without outside pressures...oil costs being one of them.
They mine the bulk of the worlds coal and are importing coal for use now.
If restrictions are placed on our countries use of coal, the only source of revenue for WV will be the export market and the ground work is being laid in the government to restrict those exports now...
They (the environmentalists)want to kill this industry...its dirty. and we are sitting on a resource who abundance is almost as metaphorically great as the amount of seawater existing in the oceans.

chinese control growth-- they've had serious problems with this oil runnup too. Inflation is at about 9% and govt is stoicly holding back the water like the little dutch boy by subsidizing gas- its like $2.40 there. oil refineries are being subsidized to the tune of 80% to prevent world market from crushing people there. to let it loose on open public would mean they cant afford to work anymore because wages would have to nearly double just to keep head above water. Its all so sickening to watch after all the tragedies they've endured this past month. sorry i cant find the link- i lost it in my tiles shuffle.
Environmentalists are realizing that you can throw the baby out with the bathwater, but I think too most people don't realize they mean well and are fiercely committed to doing the right thing. They don't want to see WV'rs so hard up that they're forced to delete the very ground they're walking on. Energy crisis will weigh more in decisions I think, but WV does need to plan ahead how this is all going to play out for the long haul.
I'd like to see good intentioned people working toward solutions instead of tug of wars where everyone loses. Clearly that isn't working for anyone (after 35 yrs of nullified efforts from both party extremes).

DK I predict the opposite, another strong factor of why I chose to live in WV. You know full well how to be self sufficient because you didn't lean on civilizations elaborate designs for everything. Self sufficient WV's can weather whatever economic messes the world can create, and get out of the loop of robber barrons and robin hoods alike. Dependent WV can flock to charlotte if they think its greener grass. That grass changes when they get there- mirage effect.
Can't get blood from a turnip, and being clear what real human needs are, nothing gets squandered. Mistake to think WV economy must revolve around coal- diversify is the answer to long term health. Use coal to do it, just like your parents worked blue collar to springboard their children into white collar.
Winds of inflation, cumulative economic problems are getting harder to hide, and prepare yourselves in advance. Money can be made in any economy- don't forget it! The nation will come at a cross roads regarding national debt- we'll either commit ourselves to paying it off, or do what russia did in late 90's and declare bankruptsy, obsolve ourselves of all debt wholesale. Restore the health of a dollar by getting back to gold backed currency as ron paul points out.

Did you see on the news this AM -
In Southern Cal, air pollution is killing more people than car wrecks. Report says they have the worst air pollution in the country and they are not meeting fed standards for ozone and fine particles -.
they are the top violators of the federal Clean Air Act. The area is the hub of manufacturing, shipping, entertainment and agriculture. More than half the state's population lives in the area.
Hey environmentalists - go pick on Cal and leave us alone!!!!!

The announcement is coming soon...MoJo/Chinese liquifaction plants in Wv...will we sell the fuel product here or return it to China?
By-Product Reduction Technology leaves NO Polutants...and the answer to the Question:
How do we produce coal in spite of Obama Legislation? We send it out to the countries who do use it.
Will be funded with Bailout Money...I love it...

Environmentalist wack jobs need to get real and work to help solve the problem... not be obstructionist. Money needs to be seriously invested to make use of our Nation's most abundant energy resource in a clean manner, not only to stop dependence on foreign sources, all of which have shown a tendency to extort consessions from us in exchange for oil, but to stop the assault on the value of our money.
Many of those same "environmentalists" are actually participating in far more harmful practices than burning coal for electricity. In the Northeast, for example, they refuse to invest in adequate infrastructure to protect the environment (something that midwestern and southern areas habitually do). Many areas use heating oil for heat, a fossil fuel, because they are too cheap to invest in natural gas infrastructure. As a result, millions of gallons of oil are burned into the atmosphere and billions of dollars are sent out of the American economy. They also routinely use septic tanks, even in good sized towns, rather than properly treat ground water. Yet these same bozos whine and cry about a power plant in Ohio that is allowing them to use electricity instead of lamp oil.
Research is the answer, not punitive measures that would make American business even less competitive. Investment to follow the research in a massive manner should be the order of the decade.
That includes Northeasterners getting their own house in order by making their markets readily available for natural gas, and saving their residents thousands every year in heating costs in the process.
Mountaintop Removal is NOT the answer, however. Causing permanent damage to our beautiful mountains just to make a quick buck is inexcusable. Mine the stuff in the traditional manner, or leave it alone.
