Default High Gas Prices Help Pocahontas Tourism

West Virginia's nearness to the Mid-Atlantic states may be a boon to the state's tourism industry. This article, while anecdotal, reports that the number of visitors over Memorial Day weekend was up significantly.

The state has a good ad campaign going into the DC market..Wash Post...TV...and that's what they are saying...save your gas dollars and visit the wild and wonderful..

Southern Turnpike Tolls were down, so if people are coming to sample the air...they are doing it in the eastern mountain areas...

I'm hearing that the DC bound Metro is packed with riders...had to put on more trains last month...great!

yes DK and the "slug" riders are having issues as well. Seems the carpoolers they normally catch a ride with are turning into "sluggers" to save on gas!

I hope some of the people go to S'ville and rent my lake house!
