WVU BoG Considering Candidates for Interim President
Possible candidates are rumored to include David Hardesty (Garrison's predecessor), former MIT President Charles Vest (a WVU alumnus), former Governor Gaston Caperton, and former WVU Presidents Gene Budig and Neil Bucklew.
Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
My vote is for Vest. Not that I have a vote. He probably has the least ties to the WV establishment. And MIT has lots of academic cred, since it's the Carnegie Mellon of Massachusetts

I like Vest too, however i know the Hardesty family and wouldn't mind seeing a Ripley boy stay on the BOG.
I like the Goodwin family too, i hate to see Steve resign from his position.

If Hardesty comes back, he might be asked a few questions...
I predict it will be done in-house for the interm...out of left field, but recently retired Professor and Department Head David Williams could carry this load...impeccable character and honesty.
The new guy coming in could be Chas. Vest...someone to restore the research money...and as a high level alum, could soothe the ruffled feathers of the donors.

There's something about WVU NEVER wanting to spend any money...former Pres. Bucklew is on staff. (For their positions, our staff get paid the minimum wage...think about it...) Bringing him over, if he will come, will be done at almost no cost. I don't know his salary, probably about 300k with all the perks..would not think his salary diminished but was carried over...
The exact amount is not an issue any way, but the new Pres. coming in...might want a scale salary in balance with what other comparable Universities are paying, and WV has been reluctant to pay the wage...Garrison was a cheap, minimum wage employee and thats what the state wanted...
Hoppy's radio show is on at 10 am...WAJR 1441 AM...expect some news about this...his feeder resources are very good...as has been the resources to the Post-Gazette...We owe them a great debt of gratitude too...
With this issue put to bed...the MoJo Campaign can get up to speed. Has been very quiet...no garage sale appearances, nothing...just home confinement with Gail waving the flag...

With the 'moving on of Dr. Bob...WVUHC will see a steady out flow for about two more years...thing is, because of medical litigation, many MD's are not going into the high dollar speciaties...
We are short surgeons now...
Give it a chance...besides, in the area we have at our fingertips...the Shadyside Medical area of Pittsburgh...Cleveland and a host of others...
it's about as easy to get a good substitute as it is to drive to the office.
In the 1980's we drove to Pittsburgh for that care...its still up there for us if we need it...WVHC is not the only hospital around...Charleston wants you to think so...it's about the money...

Have I interpreted the headlines today correctly? No wrong doing by garrison? Exhonorated?

Harborlady: ha ha ha
These were the same Demo papers that fell strangely silent on the issue when it was hot press....
The political ranks have been closed...
It's VERY possible that NO ONE WANTS THE JOB...NO ONE! West Virginia has a political meddling reputation in the ranks of academia.
And as I said before, West Virginia will only pay the minimum wage...the position has always been a political appointment...
We are not paying for great college academic credentials here...the last President was an insurance salesman...a big one.
A few years ago FSC had a great college president...was deep-sixed because of his vison of the future...all eventually implimented, I will say.
But deep-sixed because of jealousy and ignorance...He was replaced by a new President who held a Masters in Spanish...that person sat quietly and kept their mouth shut and moved on...
The old President? Went on to direct a great college in Pa...his alma mater. Would have stayed here too, he loved FSC...I was privileded to just know the man...
Things are done differently here...
