I noticed on Benedum, over by BP airport, they are developing a lot of homes, maybe townhomes??
Right behind a business called "Explosives unlimited". That strikes me as a potential bad fit, but what do I know?

Actually I'm not a seafood guy but love Italian food. Now, can anyone mention some good neighborhoods in C'burg? I am not like the OP, I have finally crossed over to the other side, (old), and don't care to be around college kids. I look for lower crime, quiet, not too trashy or too upscale, I don't mind a trailer on the street, but not if there's trees growing out of it. Or a toilet in the yard.

Crabs have balls? I always thought it was the other way around!

Austin Powder (Explosive's Unlimited) has been there for 40 years...was near the Compton Businesses, which was coal mining...
All that land you see being converted to housing is the old Compton Farm...about 2,000 acres...10 years ago, capitive buffalo were bred and grazed those hillsides...Now, its becoming a signature development...

Actually, they weren't buffalo, they were beefalo. Breed is a mix of cattle and bison. Mr. Compton gave us some of the meat - as I remember it was pretty good.
No, I'm not crazy - Beefalo - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Greetings!
I am also considering relocating for a job in Clarksburg. My concern is diversity. I don't want to offend anyone, but I live in one of the most segregated cities in the Northwest; suffice to say, I am not interested in more of the same (LOL!). I am a professional African American female, 47 years of age and am too old to deal with some of the racial challenges that I have experienced to the present. How diverse is your city? I am really interested in a nice mixture of cultures. It would be great to live in an area where folks just get along! Any comments would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your honesty. I promise not to be offended by any responses. Again, my thanks.

We do not have racial problems here...you wll fit in just fine. but its a slow...snail like pace to living...everyone will attest to that..and a proud one too...stay out of the suburbs...make the realtors spend some time and gasoline...for the most part, they are a lazy bunch of dweebs..

It's like the collection of the canned, plastic, american community...realtors dump everyone there...(get out a little into the rural outskirts).
Realtors can show 10 houses in 30 minutes, wear you out with the same flooorplan, same landscaping...same steep, mountainlike, hillside that uses a goat to mow the grass...
We have more than that to offer. and the little, nearby towns need your input, thought and leadership. Our little towns are starving for help and involvement.

David, I tried to give your last response to me a positive rating, but I got a message saying that I have to "spread some around" (?) before giving you more....okay....whatever. Anyway, do you suggest any of the surrounding towns in particular? I am totally unfamiliar with the state. The jobs that I'm considering are all VA hospital/clinic jobs, so anyplace close to these facilities will be of interest to me. Thanks much. Oh, btw, I'm not interested in "mountainlike hillsides" at all, and no, I don't have a goat - LOL!!!
