The jobs that I'm considering are all VA hospital/clinic jobs, so anyplace close to these facilities will be of interest to me. Thanks much. Oh, btw, I'm not interested in "mountainlike hillsides" at all, and no, I don't have a goat - LOL!!!

I really hope you come visit and fall in love with our area. The VA could really use you. I can't help you if you need a goat but you are welcome to visit our farm when you get here and see the mules, chickens and our new pig, Bertha! This is really a great place to live. It's an easy drive to Pittsburg, NYC or DC. But you get the benefits of the easy lifestyle of living rural, without really being rural unless you choose to.

In about 10 years, when things slow down a little, I hope to serve at the VA as a volunteer...just a nice place...and the people are the very best..
It's about the same distance to the little towns...Grafton..has a lot coming on with its restoration programs. Shinnston is a nice little town with everything...Many look at the Jane Lew area to the south. The little towns seem far away because of our primitive, indian path roads...as a person becomes accustomed to them, they are only minutes from destinations...
It takes a few days to get orientied...my suggestion, drive around and ask people in the little stores and hotdog stands...they will be glad to help when you say you will be working at the VA...
200 million has built a great facility and more is to come with the expansion into the old United Hospital...state of the art with an overhead tram over the park and creek eventually...21st century for sure...hope I live to see it all completed...We are certainly on our way into the future here in Wv.

I would search the field of present employees at the VA...most are buying acreage and living or building in the private rurual areas..a 2 acre lot can still be bought for $40 k and a nice house with garage can be built for about $235k...taxes are lowest in Taylor County...we are hosting an information seminar on Jan 10 at Middletown Mall..call the office and get directions...304-365-2884, Networking with the folks attending should give you a feel for the area and let you talk to real people face to face...

I am a professional African American female, 47 years of age and am too old to deal with some of the racial challenges that I have experienced to the present. How diverse is your city? I am really interested in a nice mixture of cultures. It would be great to live in an area where folks just get along! Any comments would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your honesty. I promise not to be offended by any responses. Again, my thanks.

I think you'd like the Bridgeport area. (It's probably one of the burbs DK was saying to stay away from - sorry DK.) Bridgport is full of professionals, close to shopping, etc.
Bridgeport Convention and Visitors Bureau
You just need to come on down and get a feel for the different areas near Clarksburg.

Thank you so much for your response! Sorry it took me so long to read it. It sounds like a pretty great place to live. How's your weather these days?

Might be moving to clarksburg
I have a question that im trying to find some answers on. Im from a little town in upstate ny, and was offered a job with the option to relocate. My only concern is that i have horses, if i move they will be going with me. I need to find a home close to clarksburg, or on the outskirts that has a good chunk of land. I like it quiet due to the fact i work alot of hours. Anybody have anything.......
