Oh, I forget to mention the most difficult adjustment for us:

The way that HURRICANE is pronounced. If you are referring to HURRICANE Katrina or the University of Miami HURRICANES, I have always said (phonetically) HER-A-KANE; however, if you are referring to HURRICANE the town in West Virginia, I have learned that it's pronounced HER-A-KIN or HER-A-CUN, West Virginia.

Thank you. I have lived in CrossLanes for 20 years and still didn't know how to pronounce Hurricane. I usually say it one way then the other.

Having lived in this area my whole life and hearing different stories and knowing the history of the area, my best guess on the reason for the pronunciation is due to the English ancestry in the area. The town was supposedly named by George Washington's surveyors when they visited the area and noted a lot of trees down, responding that it looked like a hurricane had been through the area. Have you ever heard how the English pronounce hurricane? I realized it while watching "My Fair Lady" with my wife. My guess is that it just stuck.

soybean curd and I are no friends to one another. Even shake powders have to be whey based. My digestive system protests. I also found out the hard way that most formulas of liquid vitamin e are made from soy- I got heart palpitations from it (normally heart is fine). Doc said symptoms of allergic reaction, or messing with hormone levels. Hurts when you do that? Don't do it anymore. OK doc.

I do love the taste of tempeh. Just about any sauce you cook it blends nicely & marinated patties on a foreman grill for quick protein.
