Doctors in Huntington, WV area
Hi. We are moving to the Huntington area and would like information and recommendations for doctors in the area. We would need a primary care doctor (for adults), pediatric primary care, OBGYN, adult denist and pediatric dentist. If anyone has any info from your experience with certain doctors/dentists this would be great.
Thanks

You could try direct messaging this thread to poster 'creemarie'- I haven't seen her in this forum lately- not sure if that means she's been busy at home or if she's in other threads, but she's got her roots and family set in huntington. She's very knowledgable about family orientated happenings in huntington.

Congrats on your move to Huntington-- I'm sure you'll love the area!
As for doctors in the area, there are plenty of choices. I use the Marshall University OBGYN and Marshall University Pediatrics and have had good experiences with both; they primarily use Cabell Huntington Hospital. In regards to other pediatricians, I have some friends who go do Dr. Liesen who uses St. Mary's Hospital. I guess the best thing to do would be to check who your insurance covers, talk to some people and then go from there. Fortunately, Huntington has some very good medical care.
I don't have any experience with pediatric dentists yet, but here are some you might check in to: Dr. Quillin (in Barboursville, WV) and Dr. Spradlin (in Ashland, KY)
Hope this helps and feel free to ask any more questions!

Have you had any experience with the doctors in University Family Practice? I checked out our insurance and there are a lot od adult primary care and pediatirc primary care doctors that show they are part of University Family Practice. Is this group the Marshall University medical group that you mentioned? Our insurance only listed it as University Family Practice without the Marshall name but I wonder if its the same group. At the Marshall University group, are they doctors in training through the college program or are they established doctors?
Thanks

University Family Practice is through Marshall University. These are established doctors and are not doctors in training. There are a lot of good doctors in this group and most are very knowledgeable and well respected in the Huntington area. If you use the Village Medical Center as I listed above, Dr. Patton is a good doctor. I assume they still see general patients there so I'd give them a try. Dr. Gibbs at the Cabell Family practice office is also in Barboursville and I've heard good things about him as well. Hope this helps.
