The old Crafts 2000 store? Or the one that had... what was it, Big Bear? But I agree, that area has always been a problem for traffic
Emerson Commons? I haven't been home much in the last few years, and only once to the South end of town. Where is this located?
I did take a few minutes, while in Belpre, to check out Corridor D. Man that is so sweet! And that new Western Sizzlin was looking good.

If not, maybe we'll see the resurrection of Sun TV. (Mentioning that place makes me feel old.)

I remember when the only options for a TV/electronics in the area were REX and Sears. I did shop at Sun TV a bit when they were open and always liked that place.

It's right off the Emerson Avenue exit. The only thing they have built there so far has been a new Burger King. I had read that they were looking to add some restaurants and hotels there as well. It would be an alternative to Mineral Wells.
Parkersburg really doesn't have much in the form of accomodations. I think EC and Corridor D will likely change that, but it may take a while.

There's a big empty lot on southside P-burg, where the Ralph's Market stood for decades. They tore down the store and an historical mansion to make way for a store that promptly backed out as soon as the lots were cleared. It's directly across from the south Big Lot's, and now it's up for sale.
In my opinion, the state really hurt all the businesses at US 50 and I-77 when Corridor D was built. Holiday Inn, Mountaineer restaurant, Red Roof Inn, Bob Evans, Omelette Shop..et al.
That interchange has become a hindrance to almost any future developments at the location.

I worked at Ralph's, so I can give a lot more insight into that than I am willing to go into, but even with the land that Forth Foods bought in addition to Ralph's and the mansion, it isn't big enough, and there are some limitations as to what can go in there.
Corridor D has hurt US 50, I will agree with you, but I do think there are other factors to I-77. Mineral Wells is so far out of mainstream Parkersburg that it is still a pretty good drive to get there. I do think longterm you will see more development if the economy bounces back.
I had heard that extremely long term, they were looking to eventually make Corridor D a new intersection and make Parkersburg into a crossroads similar to Beckley. That was rumor though.

I miss the Christmas music Ralph's always played. Just a little lost part of the city that one will likely not see again.

Oh, yes, the part of Corridor D around South 7th is very sloppy. I don't know what they were thinking. The part of it I found so amazing was coming across the bridge from Belpre.

Must have been before my time. Only thing I remember them playing was US 107.
Working at Ralphs kinda got me to listening to country music. After they closed, I haven't really listened to it as much.

They would broadcast it outside. You could hear it all around the area as you shopped (when people used to shop in the area)
