4th of July
I hope everyone has a chance to catch a parade, see some fireworks, grill something good, and consume copious quantities of your favorite beverage.
It's off to Cooper's Rock for me, T-storms and all. See you all Monday.
Have a Great 4th of July!

We are doing a parade in the morning if the weather permits and then spending the afternoon gabbing with friends we never see often enough...take a minute and remember what our flag means...high-5 to everyone!

There's a neighborhood parade for the kids before lunch - my kiddo's bike is decked out with red/white/blue streamers, balloons, flags. After that it's off to the neighborhood pool where there will be a big cookout...and of course to finish the night off - fireworks! I hope it doesn't rain.
God Bless America!

That picture you painted sounds adorable- make sure you get out that camera or you'll wish you had years from now.
I come from a state where fireworks were illegal. It's so weird seeing them on the shelf at krogers. I don't even know what most of them are. How do you ask for what you want if you were always watching someones bootleg fireworks? The thingy that shoots up like a comet, then starbursts and then does the shimmery fade out. Those are my fave.
I was hoping to surprise the neighborhood kids by picking up some of those sparklers I remember having at their age but I couldn't find them. I've got a batch of brownies planned instead, and the pippin apple pie would have been for the old lady across the street if only that gosh darned pie bird didn't already steal a slice.

The video camera has a full charge! And you know, this is the first neighborhood I've lived in since I was in 4th grade (about 25 years ago ) that has had a neighborhood parade like this. It's things like this that make me glad I moved here to raise my child. I love West Virginia!

mlammons I hope the rain didn't slow the parade down much. Die hard fans say that's what umbrellas are for. I think WV is a great place to raise a family even if schools are considered underperformers. I think college applicants from WV speak another story.
Anyhoo... that little old lady across the street went galavanting elsewhere today, so I've kept the pie company. The brownies are just about done.
