Things to Do in Beckley
Hi Again! I'm starting on planning my trip (for the lst time) to West Virginia. I have appreciated all the previous information given by you all. I was looking on the map and was wondering what you can recommend in Beckley? Your entire state is new to me so any/all pertinent info would be much appreciated!! Thank you.

I live part time in Hinton (Brooks actually) which is 20 minutes east of Beckley. I would recommend visiting Tamarac. Good chow, and cool WV crafts. If you have time, try a white-water trip down the New river.

Sue...
Beckeley is the center of the world..to see it all will take several summers...
Golf and stay a day or two at Pipestem...horseback on some of the mountain trails to get a good feel...Millersangel has a photo posted of the valley..nice place to sip wine and let the mosquitos bite a little...if its nippy...fire up the fireplace...
Tamarac will tell you about this great Wv people...the crafts and art are simply amazing and world quality...all the idea of a great governor and his wife.
All the violence of the rafting is there, but Wv is for relaxation...a person can connect with themselves here...some good concerts and mountain music are to be found..make a plan and let the people welcome you...you will come back...and possibly just like Hinton want to own a little part of it while it can be got...

Good morning: I'm am getting so excited about visiting your beautiful state. I know there will not be enough days to even scratch the surface (but I'll sure try). Ever since going to the Smokeys when I was a child I have had a passion for mountains (we do not have those in WI to be sure). David - which # thread does Millersangel have those pics posted on? Thanks to all!!

One of her last posting showed a photo from one of the decks at Pipestem Lodge...smokey valley at sunset...just the mountains and the air...I looked for it and couldn't find it...her photos are really great...
