My husband and I may be moving to Clarksburg for a new job opportunity and I was wondering how good the public schools are in the area. We have three small children and are looking for great schools. Also, does anyone know of any new housing developments in this area? I have looked online and have not really found anything available for purchase. If not in Clarksburg any areas nearby that would be a short commute with great schools and new housing developments. I have tried to look up the cost of living in WV but have not really found anything on the area. Any information on that would be great also.

Thanks,
hatnic

I'd probably look at Bridgeport (very close to Clarksburg in Harrison County).

Take a look at these websites.

"The crime rate is the second lowest in West Virginia and is one of the lowest in the country, property prices remain low, and the cost of living is substantially lower than any metropolitan city. Clarksburg is a small community rich with economic growth, heritage, and family recreation." City of Clarksburg

I agree for Brideport! Clarksburg schools are ok but Bridgeport schools are some of the best in the state, I have two cousins that go to Brideport schools and many of my friends graduated from BHS and gave it great reviews!!

There are some good threads that have a lot of info regarding schools in the C'Burg and North Central region.

Considering a job in Fairmont, WV on Technology Drive

Give that one a read.

I was born and raised in the North View section of Clarksburg and look how good I turned out.

Yeah, it's sad, but Bridgeport is the new Clarksburg. Everything is going there; shopping, housing developments, restaurants, hotels. I'm not sure what the status is on Charles Point, but I'd look at that. Bridgeport and Clarksburg are almost the same town anyway.

IMO it is cheap to live in Clarksburg/Bridgeport; at least compared to what I'm used to in Nevada.
