Amtrac's nearest stop is Cumberland, Md..and Wheeling, Wv.
With the coming high speed rail link, we are supposed to see a new Amtrac stop at either Washington, Pa or Uniontown...I would like to see new stops in both cities. Would help our regional eco growth significantly. The Amtrac ride is classy and affordable.

Amtrak also goes to downtown Pittsburgh (Capitol Limited out of Union Station in DC).
From there you could take the Gray Line bus south to Morgantown.

Uniontown would be best... just down the road, but Washington is only a half hour drive so that would be good too. They have talked of a light rail between Pittsburgh and Wheeling too, and that would go through Washington.

Hello! I actually want to respond to this since I own Airport Limousine Service in Wheeling, WV. We do serve many customers in the Morgantown area, but we are 1 1/2 hours away.
Unfortunately, yes - this quote was based on a 12 hour round trip for us at $ 50/hour driving time. It could maybe be done in 10 hours, but that would still be $ 500 + 15% gratuity. It is not cheap!
There used to be 2 other services in Mo-town that did this route. One was MTS; he called us 3 or 4 years ago and asked us to pick up his customers. I cannot remember why he was ceasing operations, but I think it was a combination of things. He was nice and I know he felt bad. We basically had to call his reservations and say, "Um, hello - we are going to be taking you now"; we had to obtain all CC info, etc.
The other service was Morgantown Limousine service - a car service owned and operated by Jack Conrad. We knew Jack well; we would do a lot of trips for him when he was not able to cover them. (He couldn't be in 2 places at once, in other words.) He had our home and cell phone numbers. He was a good man. Sadly, Jack had a heart attack in February 2007 and passed away. This was a total shock to us. Shortly thereafter we began receiving calls from people saying, "Morgantown Limo no-showed on my trip - I need a ride". Well, then I had to call these people and tell them what happened to Jack; they were as shocked as we were - many did not know.
Anyway, I am sorry for rambling. Suffice it to say that "Yes" we can do that Morgantown to D.C. run, but we do have to account for the empty time as someone else explained. If we were in Morgantown, it might not be as bad but given the economy right now, I am not going to open a M-town branch, any time soon!
Please keep us in mind for Morgantown to PIT; we operate 24/7/365 and are door to door. Our number is 800-326-2907 and our website is www.wheelinglimo.com if you need more info. Thanks!

I have to say that there is no Amtrak stop in Wheeling, WV - only Greyhound. Also, I would not hold your breath on the rail from Pittsburgh to Wheeling - I NEVER hear anything about that! It would be nice, but hmmmm....I could see them extending I-68 to Moundsville, WV before a rail to/from PIT.

You can get to Pittsburgh via plane, train, or bus then take the bus from Pittsburgh to Morgantown. Mountainline Transit operates a daily round trip run stopping at Waynesburg, Morgantown, Fairmont, and Clarksburg as well as the Pittsburgh Airport and Train/Bus Depot.
I believe the fare from Pittsburgh to Morgantown is $20 one way, and you can arrange for a meal on the bus ahead of time when you make reservations.

You can take either air, bus or Amtrack train from Washington, DC to Pittsburgh.
The GreyLine stops at the Pittsburgh Airport, as well as the bus/train station.
You need to check with MountainLine bus service in Morgantown to get the schedule. The bus will take you right to Morgantown by way of Washington, PA and Waynesburg and runs daily.
