Restaurants in Huntington
Hi. We are moving to Huntington next month. I was wondering, what are the best restaurants in Huntington/Barboursville?
When we visted in May we ate at Jims Spegetti and loved it.
How is the Hibatchi grill? I read some reviews online but I wanted to get some info from Huntington residents. What about the Italian grill thats downtown and coach Pruitts?
Thanks for any info. We cant wait to get there. It will be a change for us since we currently live in a big city, but we know God has us going to WV for a reason and we're looking forward to it.
Thanks

There are LOTS of GREAT restaurants in the Huntington area that you'll have to try at some point. My favorite is Jewel City Seafood. They are actually a seafood market as well, so everything they have is VERY fresh. And you can't beat their prices for seafood. Another good local seafood place is Woddy's. They have good food as well with a neat decor inside. Hibachi is wonderful and the atmosphere in there is great since they kept the charm of the old building they are in. There's also a sushi bar in there if you like going to those. Haven't been to Coah Pruett's steakhouse yet but I hear that the food there is wonderful. When you say Italian Grill, I assume that you mean the one at Pullman Square called Frankie D's. The food there is wonderful and on Wednesday nights that have a guy that performs there (in the summer at least) that sings Sinatra, Crosby, Connick Jr. type stuff. They also have quite an extensive selection of wine there. Another good Italian place is Rocco's in Ceredo. The also have a sandwich place downtown that is very good too.
For more upscale (also more expensive), there's Savannah's, 21 @ the Frederick and the Blackhawk Grille. All three places have wonderful food and just great atmosphere.
There's also a place downtown called Nawab (indian cuisine) that is very good as well. If you like Tex Mex, Chili Willi's is a great place to eat. You also have several good mexican places in town, several good Asian restaurants and all of your typical chain restaurants as well.
There are some great fast food places that aren't too widespread yet like 5 Guys Burgers, Moe's Southwest Grill, and Benny's Cheese steaks. Of course you can't forget all of the local hotdog places as well. Here are some links to these restaurants to give you more info on them. And these are just some of the great restaurants in the area as it would take too much time to list them all. Hope this helps.

There is a farmer's market in Charleston - Capitol Market. On the website, click under Outdoor Market for months and what is offered each season. The Indoor Specialty Shops are open year round. A couple of my fav shops are the one that sells WV products only and the wine shop - great selection.
Welcome to the Capitol Market

Been there several times and loved everything I've had there as has my wife. It has a great atmosphere but you can either be dressed up or just casual and feel comfortable either way. The calzones are HUGE as are the pizza slices and both are very tasty. The only complaints I've heard from some is that they didn't like the alfredo sauce on the pasta but I've had it and like it really well. Melini's is a great addition to Huntington cuisine and I recommend you give it a try.
Have you been to Jewel City yet? There's also a new place opening up at the beginning of next year called Huntington Prime. The menu isn't up on their site yet but I had a little taste of it at the Food Festival yesterday and it was great. According to the chef/owner, their focus will be on fresh, local food. The vegetables he was fixing had just been harvested 2 days before and the meat was only 2 days old as well. It was delicious. Here's their website.

Almost forgot too, according to Jamie Oliver, Huntington may soon have it's own Green Truck. This is a truck that travels to various places in a community offering breakfast, lunch and dinner all with local and organic food. It was here all last week at the hospitals and Mr. Oliver said yesterday that Huntington was going to have it's own Green Truck thanks to a local investor. Here a link to their website as well if you see the truck around town.

Thanks for the info. We'll have to try it.
We eaten at Jewel City yet but I hope we will soon. I saw that they have all you can eat crab legs on Mondays. Yum.
I wish we could have made it to the festival yesterday. It sounds like it was a fun time.
We try do to a new thing each week or try a new restaurant when we can. We really love it here since moving here from Florida last year from. Call me crazy but I love this cold weather too.
The area here is so beautiful and the people are really nice.
