Here's an article on stills, you can get them from a guy in Arkansas called Col. Vaughn Wilson, though apparently there is a 16 week waiting list. According to the article "his best customers (in descending order) live in North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, and Tennessee." The perfect Christmas gift: your own copper moonshine still « Tennessee Guy

Naw, CB, ya gotta be honest about it. Make it in WV, using "Only water from the pristine Shaver's Fork of the Cheat River."

I saw a short documentary a while back on the History Channel about moonshiners past and present. Pretty interesting stuff. One fellow makes his own liquor legally and sells it, rum if I remember correctly. He has to sell it to the government first and then buy it back for resale so they can ensure it's taxed.

ENFORCING THE WHISKY LAWS IN WEST VIRGINIA (Feb. 7,
1870, Harper's Weekly)
The mountains of West Virginia, covered with forest
and traversed by few roads, offer tempting facilities
to those who engage in the illicit distillation of
whisky, and the revenue officers of the United States
experience great difficulty in hunting up their
establishments and enforcing the laws. The stills are
generally located in some very secluded ravine, to be
reached by an obscure bridle-path only; and as the
distillers are hardly one degree removed from banditi,
many of them having been rebel guerrillas, and regard
revenue officers as natural enemies, the latter are
frequently compelled to call upon the military for
assistance when making a raid upon a well-defended
still. Our illustration on page 84 represents the
seizure of such an establishment, and was made by our
artist from an actual scene.

HomesickforWV is on a distinguished road
I moved to Texas in 1995 for economic reasons. I miss WV everyday! There is no more beautiful state then WV. It is to bad that the mismanagement has driven people to other states to make a living. I built beautiful homes in Teays Valley and could not make a living. Life is easier in Austin, Texas but I sure miss home!

This may be a little off topic, but I wonder if WV would profit if it had more amusement parks, like Cedar Point in Ohio,or Kennywood park near the Pittsburgh area. Maybe in Braxton county which is cetrally located. This would bring in more tourism $$s.

How about an amusement park that has outside rides, but also has an indoor water park for the cold winter. it could be in Flatwoods sure!!!

It would have to be very nice for people to come tthough!!!

I always thought a nice "West Virginia" theme park would be cool. With coal mine rollar coaster's and with a backwoods kinda feel. now that could work, with alittle marketing strategy

But sorry to leave the topic aswell

Those amusement parks are to be built veru soon with the Stimulus Money...they have a name...
Down here we call them Gambling Casinos....they will train a new generation of children to have fun (lose their money) at the waterparks/casinos...

nodrama?
There is a lot of work in North Central Wv...a guy on the bottom can work his way up from nothing...just takes some balls to do it.
If hundreds of Mexican's can come here from Indiana that means something somewhere for somebody.

I saw a 27 square 9/12 roof they shingled in 3 hours...and a 40 unit Motel in the middle of Morgantown that they shingled in 2 days...
City Inspectors never knew they were there....Saturday and Sunday...thing is, we do not use illegals...too risky!
