Default looking for funky restaurant in Charleston, WV

We are going to be travelling and are planning to stop and eat in Charleston, WV. Does anyone know of a funky little place with good food? (preferably places near the interstate, as we don't want to take too much time out of our trip)

Soho's in the Capitol Market sits right under the interstate)
Welcome to the Capitol Market (scroll down for a link to the menu)

(these 2 link actually take you to different pages)

The directions I found on the website are pretty useless.
Here's a map of Chas http://www.charlestonwv.com/shared/c...s/chascity.jpg
What direction will you be traveling from? Will be glad to give directions.

The Blossom Deli is a fav of many people. Not hard to get to from the interstate. No parking lot but there is street parking and a parking garage not far away.

There's also The Barge Restaurant - sits on the Kanawha River near I-64.

I pretty much agree with everything vec says although I have yet to try the Barge. Soho's is delicious, I routinely go there when I'm home visiting.

Blossom has a nice lunch menu and PHENOMENAL dinner choices, the prices are high but not unreasonable.

I also like the Blue Grass Kitchen on the East End. I believe the address is 1600 West Washington Street. The neighborhood can look a little rough but inside is very unique with art work for sale on the walls and a very delicious, although small lunch and dinner menu.

I thought that place closed down. When first remodeled that bldg was a couple other restaurants first, correct? Maybe that is what I am thinking of.

The first time I was here was September 07', so before that, I don't know anything. Definitely open. I go there a few times a week.

Blossom Deli - Welcome/About Page
I "ditto" the Blossom. For locals I guess it's kind of "hohum" after a while, but when I was living in Charleston I ate there as a teen all the time. As a matter of fact, met actor Nick Nolte there (when he was um - sober).

The Blossom must have stuck a cord with someone - on HGTV one night they showed a 75 million dollar home in California for sale by an "unnamed seller". In the basement, he had re-created a street in his hometown of... guess... Charleston, WV! Complete with a near replica of the Blossom Deli. Floored me. Still have no idea who it was, but it must be good to duplicate it in your basement. LOL

That house they showed on HGTV is for sale - it's been on a couple other TV shows also. I forget how much they said it was selling for. He had some other Chas replicas in it also.

The owner has moved back to WV - built a mansion in Putnam County. There was an article in the Gazette/Mail about his new house. Don't remember his name.

'Fifth Quarter's the only place...If you're coming up from the south...stop at Tamarac and forget about C-town...The Greenbriar is about as funky as it gets here...try the trout.
