No, that was 7 years ago before Morgantown was considered the main city of a MSA so it wouldn't be able to win the same award currently since it was designated as the main city of it's own MSA. The restrictions for population were between 10,000-50,000 as well so it also excluded Charleston and Huntington. Just FYI.

Elkins WV is known to have the largest number of days with cloud cover annually, than any other town in the United States.

Of course, I have a few towns that I consider my favorites for different reasons.
1. Morgantown---access to higher education and university hospital. Cheat Lake is nearby for recreation. Able to drive to Pittsburgh within 2.5 hours, Maryland for skiing within a couple of hours, and south to a Stone Wall Jackson Lake Resort for fishing.
2. Charleston--Has more culture. Clay Center and Civic Center offer shows and concerts. The University of Charleston offers some things. And, a larger area hospital. Within 45 minutes west to Huntington WV which offers college sports with Marshall University. And, 45 min east, skiing.
3. Eastern Panhandle--Martinsburg--The best of both worlds. Can live in WV but commute to D.C. via Amtrak. Can go to D.C. for the day. Anywhere in the eastern panhandle offers trout fishing along the south branch of the Potomac.

No, DK, she really wrote 2.5 hours in the Morgantown section... I'm 60 miles from that BP station at Cheat Lake, takes just about an hour. Downtown Pgh can't be more than 90 minutes leisurely, since I-79 kinda swings west to Little Washington before it gets to Pittsburgh.

When they talk about the Backyard Brawl, don't they say 79 miles on I-79?

It is actually not #1, but it is in the top 10 Beckley also ranked in the top 10. I remember seeing that list. Why you ask? Think about. Elkins and Beckley are both higher in elevation than many of the towns to the west. Clouds have to rise with the elevation over mountains, which is why Elkins receives more rain Petersburg or Moorefield. Also even if the sun is out bright and its 80 degrees outside, and one cloud floats by, it's considered "cloudy". So yeah, just some information for everyone out there

And... that's why west of the mountains is much less likely to have drought conditions than, say, the Eastern Panhandle.
