Little dusting in the Hinton area. I'm going to post some pictures this evening.
As it's getting cold out, thought I'd share this: Under Armour Cold Gear is the best invention ever! Last winter I bought one of the mock-turtle neck compression shirts to see if they were as good as everyone was saying. They were! They're not bulky like the old insulated underware stuff. They don't bunch up at the elbows either. I just got a pair of the "leggings". Equally as nice! You don't have to get pants a size bigger to wear them under, they're like a second skin. I wear the shirt with a sweatshirt over it in 20 deg. weather and was almost too warm.
I would highly recommend them to anyone who wants to be comfortable out in the cold; and doesn't want to look like Ralphies little brother from "A Christmas Story"

Mark that looks like a skin diving suit. Pictures it reads like neoprene. 100% polyester. Usually it's harder to find this kind of stuff in womens sizes but sports authority is advertising stock.
I saw in a catalog they're offering heated coats nowadays. I'm afraid to ask but maybe I'll spoof on customer service and ask how long the extension cords are. hehehehee

Please don't remind me about the white shiat that's going to inevitably hit where I live here in a couple of weeks.
Odd, though, for it to snow in WV in October. When I was a kid, it never snowed before Thanksgiving...
However, here in Eastern Washington... the snows are a lot worse, and USUALLY hits us way before WV.
The weather has been weird everywhere recently it seems. It was in the upper 70s here in September. It's never usually that warm... I think it actually hit 80 or 81 at one point in mid September. Now it's freezing at night, though....
However, last year we had pretty close to record snowfall... it was the 2nd snowiest winter on record here, and it even snowed on June 10th!
Hope all of you in WV are staying warm!

I ask this question.... What were winters in WV like in the 50's and 70's? My family said sometimes they didn't go to school for a week or two sometimes due to snow, and this it sometimes could drift as high as 6-10 feet and block roads. Given that was in the high mountains between Elkins and Canaan Valley.... but still. I grew up in the same area for all 18 years, and we never had snow higher than 3 feet. Except for the year I built a kickass igloo on the corner of my driveway, equipped with snowball artillery I would wait till my parents would leave and bam..bam..bam bam... Snowballs in your face.. ha ha Oh I've went on a tangent again.
But I am a firm believer in climate change. I believe it’s a natural process, but I feel that humans are screwing with the system. I remember growing up my mom had Ford Mustangs, before she got on the SUV kick, and the Mustangs were pretty much parked all winter because of the snow. I now drive my little black VW Jetta home all the time during the winter, and in 3 years only had problems once. My road was covered in packed snow, and I have a huge hill with turns I have to go up, so if you get stopped without 4X4 you are screwed. But I had to wait till it got plowed by a neighbor before I could leave. Which was my only problem. Then again it could be that German engineering is more superior to Americans.. ha ha
sorry I guess I'm in story telling mode tonight....
but I do think our climate is changing. I also feel like winter is turning more into December, January, February instead of November through March.

The "winter to remember" was the winter of last year in Maine and New Hampshire. There was snow on the ground from the very first snowfall to the last. The first snowfall was 15 inches deep and it was rarely less than that deep. It was the kind of winter baby boomers remembered from their childhoods there. I suspect a similar winter is due in WV. I have heard many stories that were not quite as dramatic for WV but were nonetheless, just as memorable.

Our winter weather is determined by the placement of the 'Jet Stream...for about 2 decades it has been riding higher into Canada...and more southern are has been pushing up to us from the Gulf of Mexico...
Mustangs...possibly the most out of balance car in the USA...built light in the rear to smoke the tires...

I grew up in New York during the 70's & 80's. I recall having much more snow than they've had in the past 20 or so years. There was snow on the ground from November to February, with snow falls into April. I remember shoveling driveways for 25 cents on snow days and weekends.
The climate is always changing; warming and cooling on short 20+/- year cycles, and larger trends covering hundreds of years. I recall that in the last century, the average temperature changed +1 degree. Given that in 1900 there was very little human impact, and in 1999 there was 1000's of percent more, one degree isn't too significant. I think what IS significant, is the fact that "Climate Change" and "Global Warming" are big money issues that will result in more government control over industry. My .02 anyway
