Almost forgot, thanks Razor and WVUPharm...I've looked into both, my daughter and I actually spent hours one day looking at stats, etc from both schools and they seem pretty even in the sports my daughter does.MHS is better in some areas and UHS is better in others. So I think we could make either work as far as sports go.I'll just be glad when hubby has a job!!! Thanks for the input.

I won't lie though, construction jobs are always harder to find in the winter here... but there are still a few contractors advertising for help and a ton of housing developments are advertising for maintenance and at least snow removal. Spring is always better for construction highering... that's when all the big projects are going to go into full spring (no pun intended...and a bad one at that).
The big projects right now are the Power Plant under construction, the Suncrest Town Centre, the Peirpont Center, the West Virginia Public Theatre theatre, the WVU Research Park, the "DIG" (This is a mile long area of West Run that is being converted into houseing... well over 100 acres total includes several differnt housing developments), in Fairmont Volcano Island will start construction in the spring (this will be the worlds largest indoor water park in the world when completed) and a little further south, the FBI expansion and Charlespointe, in Clarksburg.

The construction is in full force and will continue to do so. They are continually building things here in Morgantown. Mon General Hospital just built on and they are still building onto Ruby Memorial. Morgantown is growing very quickly and has alot more growing to go so there will always be work in construction. As for the parking situation I recommend that you rent a parking space downtown once you get here so that you aren't fighting for a space. My daughter goes to WVU and the first year she would have trouble finding a place to park sometimes taking up to an hour to get a space. She now rents a parking space and doesn't have that problem. It is hit and miss on parking somedays. It will also depend on where you live. If you actually live in town then you can always walk to class or ride the bus, the buses are free to students with a Valid Student ID from WVU. As for the money that you have to pay the school, the rate will change after you can prove that you are WV resident, it will go to the in state rate. You might want to check into that with the Financial Office before you actually enroll since you are moving here permanantly they might charge you as in state. I have lived here in Morgantown since 1968 (oops telling my age now) I would be happy to help you out also, by showing you around or any other questions that you might have about the area.
I have children that are still in High School. They go to MHS. My daughter graduated from UHS. I graduated from MHS, My ex-husband works at UHS. So I know alot about both schools. If I can be of any help just let me know.
I have friends that live in Bruceton area and it is very nice there. Depending on the weather it could take you anywhere from 20 minutes to 45 minutes to get to Morgantown. Bruceton is on top of the mountain and a different world when it comes to the weather. It just depends on what you are looking for.
Good luck with every thing

Happee what sports is your daughter into? My daughter was into sports also. Both schools are good for sports though. I have 2 boys that go to MHS right now and I am sure they would be happy to help your kids get adjusted at MHS if you choose for them to go there. They also know kids that go to UHS and am sure they would help out.
Let me know if you need some help

Renting Parking spaces?! Okay, I've been going to WVU for 3 years and have never paid for parking... I have a secret that will go with me to my grave (come on I don't want everyone parking where I do... not enough space). But you can find free parking in Morgantown two to three blocks away from the Mountain Lair. You just need to know where to look. And parking at the Collesium (that's not spelled right, is it?) and walking to the PRT or Evansdale is a good morning walk, not long, little up hill. Hey I didn't have an ass before I started WVU, now I'm proud to say I have a nice one and lost 35 lbs in the process... thank you very much!

wtg Lordtreize. I was just recommending the parking thing because it depends on where your classes are and what time on how easy it is to park. You are right there are places to park that are free but those of you that have been here for awhile already know where they are and have them filled up. you were right it is spelled wrong but that is ok. (coliseum) have a good day

After fighting with parking at UK, I can handle anything! And don't be surprised Lord, if I hit you up for some of the secret FREE places. haha
Seriously tho, since DH has been laid off things have gotten a little rough, so if you hear of any job openings, please let us know.He was going to wait until June when we all left but considering BK isn't even hiring now, he may be going right after the holidays, if he can find something.I know construction is usually slow everywhere ( except maybe Fl) during the winter months, but any inside info would be GREATLY appreciated!!
Can't wait to get there!!

Hi everyone! Just checking in to see how the economy is doing. We've been checking the want ads in the paper and craigslist, and haven't heard anything as of yet. DH has also called a few contractors, but they've said it's a bit early yet and won't really be hiring anyone else until around March. So I guess basically, I'm just saying hello and checking in to make sure things are still happening there and the economy hasn't tanked too much around Morgantown. We can't wait to get there!!

Nope. Still appears to be going strong. The difference between Morgantown, where I live, and Uniontown, where I work, is significant. Just the attitude. People in Morgantown still go to the movies, go out to eat, spend money on cars, etc. People in a regular old towns are conserving, conserving, conserving.
