Again I say you need to do more research... only for a different reason this time. Read these posts, do some other research on the needs of WV and you will find that McCain's policies better met our needs than those expressed by Obama.

Beyond laughable, considering the Dominon Post is the Sole propaganda outlet for the Republican Party, they are owned by the Reese Family. Thank God though, that Mon county has seen the light.

How did McCain's policies (what were they, by the way?) better meet WV's needs than those of Obama's?

Obama detractors point out he has a negative tone on coal, McCain to a lessor extent. As far as impact to WV, real impact- that's about it.

Net/net- neither has much to do with the state at all. Unless you're a pro-choice, pro-gun and totally scared of the 'Liberal revolution' or something like that- then you vote Republican in the national elections, but then you vote, umm, Democratic for state and local representation... Except Capito because she's different, lol.

West Virginia is an anomaly and tends to rise and fall with tides against the normal seas, so neither party of the executive branch really matters, imo.

GHO I was born conservative but I think I'm getting more liberal the older I get. Go figure. Those old one dimensional definitions of liberal/conservative or what it is to be dem or rep-- they just don't have the meaning people think they do anymore.

A cop friend of mine said to me once he was so far to the right that he landed on the left. I think the way we think about politics in general is evolving into something else but into what... I have no idea.

Well said 3 Run:

Inspite of the shrill diatribe from Cecil Roberts, the miners knew who would be buttering their bread...vote for their families and the big payments on those Dodge trucks and SUV's...

Not much else to a miners life...family, truck that you drive to work...and the job...the drain of that job...

It's called survival and an existence..

How adorable! I'm not concerned about earning your approval. That you'd interpret it that way... is this your motive for participating in blogs?

Complete objectivity isn't possible because you're a human being. Whether or not you're willing to understand where people are coming from and for what intention is another question entirely.

I don't recall seeing your sn around when nasty trolls were plaguing the forum. They were spurred on by media (formerly known as journalism) whose job is to uncover & present the truth. Instead they satisfied themselves with stereotypes based on a race card- fed it to the masses- more mind candy for everyone at the expense of WV'ns.

Ignorance breeds contempt, and you've been very generous with both if you read your own words below. How clever to claim non partisanship, prime with disclaimers it's not personal, then engage in personal attacks. Your ego is no match for an unsophisticated bumpkin like me. Shall I parody your behavior by ASSuming you're with LDS? Sarcasm is a cheap thrill that's coming at a steep premium to actual knowledge.

You never did ask how I voted. Satisfied with convenient assumptions & pigeonholing?

I understand that you're lacking information, but your attitude and language offer a rhetorical question. You're implying you already knew the answer. Presuming someone who's being genuine with you is ignorant speaks about you.

That's the great divide between the rural and citified parts of America. An elitist attitude that originates from citified but now exists on both sides. America has been divided by extremes and has been rendered vulnerable by every conceivable benchmark. The only purpose of revealing my personal origins was to make you aware that I've seen both sides of the coin. That you'd turn it into something else and offer me contempt in the bargain... you've directly exhibited the nature of the misinformation plague in America. The very illness I've witnessed all along.

Picture becoming clearer yet, or do you still think you know all you need to know? WV'ns are so much more polite about this, but I don't see the point of encouraging rude behavior by letting it go unchallenged. I've got plenty to learn from them. Hip hip horray for AliceT.
