Well WV picked yet another loser. We are making a habbit of that (last 3 general elections.) I'm really starting to believe WV is turning Red. Oh well, the majority of American's made the right decisions tonight, and I'm looking forward to a better 2009

Of course we will support the peoples choice...

I'm reminded of two great men with limited qualifications for the Presidency who have left a positive legacy felt for decades...Haberdasher, Harry S. Truman...and Actor/ Union President, Ronald Regan...

Perhaps, President Obama can divorce himself from the geeks of the Clinton Administration and do like Jack Kennedy did...draw from the great minds of his age to lead the country...God knows we need it at this time...

They still are. They voted Obama
WVSOS - ENRS

For county-by-county, see MetroNews Election Results -- Powered by Citynet
Interesting to see how close it was in a lot of counties
Which by-the-by:
Kanawha - Obama 40148 McCain 40588
Monongalia 16853 15612
Marion 11389 11317
Harrison 13488 17715
Cabell 15110 18571
Jefferson 11606 10526
Berkeley 15945 20779

Really surprised - Kanawha 80,000+ voters cast ballots then compare that to the numbers of other more populated counties.

What is more surprising to me, given the misinformation blitz on local TV ads that Obama is anti coal, is that he carried McDowell Co.

McCain carried Mercer by a large margin but when I went to the courthouse to vote early and saw them coming in on walkers and canes, I saw that coming.

Where's your Nobama now? Loving it.

Changes are coming. It's the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine.

Just like the drunken driver feels fine when he slams into the tree and dies? Too much media dope over the years... population does what they're told to do. You feel like you have the power to decide things.

This election was lose/lose. Old socialism or new.

Heck, I voted for Gloria La Riva. If we're going to have Socialism, lets at least elect someone who admits it!

Did he not say that he wanted emission credits priced so high that it would bankrupt any company that tried to build a new coal-fired plant?

That certainly doesn't sound like a pro-coal stance (if the quote is anywhere near accurate).

I am soooo happy I live in the RED state of West Virginia!
Common sense of WV won over the craziness which spread all over the country like a plaque.
Happy Affirmarive action president. Hope we'll survive the next 4 years.
Since today I am going to donate good chunk of money to GOP. I didn't give much and i am sorry for that.

How's deregulation for the past 8 years been working for ya? That 401K in good shape? Oil companies making windfall profits while you pay over $4 a gallon for gas until just recently. And it will go back up, btw.

Oh yeh, the beneficent CEO's on Wall Street were looking out for the stockholders. And the banking industry with their subprime lending practices which no one called them on was really a HUGE boost to the economy.

And we haven't even begun to see the ramifications of the credit card crisis. Tell me, how someone with a FICO score of 800 can suddenly have their interest rate doubled just because the credit card companies can do it and then have their limit lowered so their balance is overlimit and subject to punitive fees. It's happening to a lot of people I know.

There is legislation pending to rein them in but when it passes, do we call it protecting the consumer from usury or do we call it socialism?

And of course, you can come back and say that people who took advantage of the mortages were not being prudent or people who used their credit cards were being short sighted, but it is what it is now.

No one who did these things had any idea it would get this bad. And it got this bad not because the consumer was an idiot but because the banks got greedy and could basically do anything they wanted even if it meant self destruction. Because not everyone ended up broke. The people running them certainly didn't.

JMHO of course.

I saw the same ads you saw on TV. I have no idea of their accuracy or how much spin was involved.

This is from Obama's website position paper.

Quote:
Develop and Deploy Clean Coal Technology.

Obama’s Department of Energy will enter into public private partnerships to develop five “first-of-a-kind” commercial scale coal-fired plants with clean carbon capture and sequestration technology.

Concerning coal...Please view:

OBAMA: “So if somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can; it's just that it will bankrupt them because they're going to be charged a huge sum for all that greenhouse gas that's being emitted.” (Interview with San Francisco Gate – 01/17/08)

FLASHBACK – JOE BIDEN: “No coal plants here in America. Build them, if they're going to build them over there make 'em clean because they're killing you." (Joe Biden, Remarks, Maumee, OH, 09/17/08)
