Thanks Bluefieldbornlady! I enhanced your reputation with the address! (o= We plan on utilizing this home as our "getaway"......I hope it's not clearly a "bad neighborhood...as it seems to have beautiful views of the city below and beautiful land with paths in the backyard.

Just understand this, if you have children. This area, Mercer county, has the highest rate of sex offenders in the state. You can check online. They are everywhere.

Hey Brian! I send you a direct message and then I saw that you already had responded to my thread! I didn't realize the info. about the sex offenders...however, the home we are fixing up will be primarily used as our "getaway" for the time being. If/when we move there...the kids will be older. When we visit...the kids will be under my supervision...not roaming around the town unattended. Does get my attention though!

I couldn't resist checking the registry......at least none of the identified perps are in my neighborhood. I would have crapped myself if one was listed next door! LOL

We're heading to Bluefield on Friday to check out the home we have put a deposit on. I am excited to see the area. We won't arrive until Friday night...we will visit the house on Saturday morning...and then head home! Yippee it will be a quickie. However, at least it will be done. Any suggestions on "decent" motels. I have been checking out sites and most are "total dives" I have a couple possibilities that I'm working on.

Hi...just thought I would share that it looks like we will be completing the transaction to purchase the home sometime next week. It needs LOTS of work....but we will fix it up gradually...I see lots of potential...and hubby really wants it...so we're going for it. Our home is right near the Bluefield University College Campus.

Well.....took me most of this evening to find my thread! LOL I wanted to update that "today" we received our property deed in the mail. This process has certainly moved slower than anticipated, but we now are happy homeowners in Bluefield. My hubby is doing an upcoming demolition job where we will be getting all the kitchen cabinets for our humble WV abode. He has already started gathering items we will need once we arrive. It wont be a palace...but it will be ours. So much work to be done! Oh yeah....can anyone give me the name of the power company in Mercer County so we can have our electricity turned on. Thanks.
