Considering our secular economy and the mess we've made, I'm waiting for people to blame god by implication on our $$$. Dumb stuff people do= their fault, not gods.

It's our mess. We made it. And we expect our God to fix it? I don't think so. Our God is an awesome God... but not a stupid one.

Here's my take on the litter along the roads:
It's from guys throwing their cups, McDonald's bags, etc in the back of their pickup, utility vehicle, etc. then driving down the road.
Yesterday saw 3 cups fly out of the back of a work truck going down I-64 - have seen this happen numerous times. One time was driving behind a couple young boys with a huge tall box evidently full of cans for recycling - lid was open. My guess it was a school recycling project. They left a trail of cans along the road as the cans flew up out of that box like birds and landed along the roadway - perhaps in the same spot collected from in the first place.
Not to start a war-of-the-sexes and got to hand it to guys for putting their garbage in the bed of their vehicle rather than toss it on the ground but... why do they not think that the same garbage will not fly out of the bed when driving at 60-70 mph.
You'd think after 1 or 2 times they'd figure out that the trash they put in the bed was no longer there and that the garbage fairy had not magically taken it away.

Ohh AliceT's plan is in full force!
I went to Bob Evans the other night and ran into mom/pop, daughter in law/son traveling through WV on their way back home to Indiana. They were frightened and averted their eyes at the prospect of staying the night in Charleston while most of Kanawha city was full up with coal hillbillies. They were so frightened they didn't feel safe enough to risk the Marriot in downtown Charleston despite valet parking and concierge services.
<waving frantically> Y'all come back now, y'hear?
Gee, I hope they made it home alright at 8am. Maybe they caught a nap at a truck stop in Ohio?

I had a former associate come up from FL recently with his wife. He wanted to see what I saw in WV. He missed it.
The first night he arrived in the area, he stayed at a national chain motel. Seems there was a banjo player playing his instrument in the room next to his. No, wait. The guy was strumming his banjo outside his room and singing, to boot. He turned himself off at 9pm, but my friend really wasn't amused by the free music. The second night he tried to get a room at a different area, closer to my little place and was told there was no vacancy.
Yeah, on weekends, the prisons are open for visiting day and folks come to see their incarcerated kin and take up all the available motel rooms. Oh well.
This wasn't what he had in mind. Just as well. I don't recall inviting him here anyway.

Any of you remember this anti-littering commercial from the 70's; The old indian sitting on his horse, looking over the interstate as a car travel past and throws trash out the window. A single tear ran down his cheek as he turned his horse away. Very powerful, it still makes my eyes water.
You know what makes me angry? Cigarette butts being thrown out the window. Anywhere they are, just flick them out like it's no problem. I see them do it right by cops, no one seems to care.
FWIW, the stretch of I-64 between VA state line and Beckley is very clean. The indian doesn't shed a tear, he shoots an arrow.

Mark new cars don't have ashtrays. I'm thinking attempts at getting people to quit have had unintended consequences for people who otherwise wouldn't toss them out. Stop at a light in a left turn lane, look out the window, the median is a giant ashtray-- in new york. Only place I've heard cops pulling someone over for it was in cali due to wildfire threats.
