Default Rural areas around Huntington

OK, y'all. So after reading all the fantastic info about symphonies and engineering jobs, I'm hooked. As I said in the last thread, we are looking for big acreage outside a small city. Charleston seems to make the most sense because of jobs...but, I love what I hear so far about Huntington. What are my options for rural places to live outside of Huntington? (Not interested in OH or KY) What could I expect to pay on average for say, 40 acres? We don't care about driving 45 minutes into work each day, as long as traffic is moving.
Whoever put in that picture of the Keith- that place is fabulous!! Is that in Huntington or Charleston?

There are several places that you might want to look around Huntington. If you are set on having a farm as you said in your original post, then you may want to start your search along Route 2 aka Ohio River Rd.(towns of Lesage, Green Bottom, Cox's Landing). This road runs parallel to the Ohio river and has a lot of flat land. The last time I drove that way I saw several for sale signs for some larger farms but I'm unsure of how much they were as I've never researched it. This would give you quick access to Huntington as well as I-64 via the Merrit Creek Connector(Rt. 193) . Connected to this road is another road called Big Seven Mile. It runs from the western to the Eastern portion of the county, which is where Milton is. Most of the land along this road is more rural and may also have some of what you are looking for. Route 10 is another place that you may want to look as well as it is mainly rural but there is a lot more development going on in places there so land is becoming somewhat more expensive, depending on how close you are to Huntington or Barboursville. If you can't find what you are looking for in these areas, you may want to look in the area off of I-64 exit 8. This is known as 5th Street Road or Route 152 and it leads toward Wayne County. Here's a map of the county just to help situate you with the areas I'm referring to. As far as the Keith Albee, this beautiful theater is in Huntington and it is the main Performing arts center downtown, excluding the Civic Arena. They are currently doing a lot of renovations inside and out so once they get done it will be even better. He's some info about the theater and what they are currently doing.

Hopefully this has been helpful and let me know if there's any other way I can help.

Charleston and Huntington are about half-an-hour apart along I-64. Close to Charleston is Teay Valley which is home upon home (bedroom community of Charleston). However, between TV and Huntington are some wide open spaces. I'm not real familiar with the area but may want to look around Culloden, Milton, Ona, etc.
