They plan to do construction work in Summersville and many other areas throughout the State. The WV terminus for the project is somewhere in the Fairmont area south of town, from what I understand. From there, the stuff will be piped into PA and the east. Fairmont will be the fountainhead, so to speak, and there should be considerable employment associated with that. In the meantime, there will be employment everywhere with the construction activities. I am not certain about this, but it is what I have heard.

Not sure what companies, etc. will be associated/working with this. I'd take a look at the website of the WV Oil and Natural Gas Assoc,
http://www.wvonga.com/
May want to contact them with your question. Don't be hesitant, part of the work of most Associations is helping their industry with workforce development so contacting the Association would not be a far stretch.
According to this old article from May, PetroEdge Resources may be a frontrumer for extracting the gas. Appalachian fields awaken as companies tap vast, deep reservoir (http://www.wvonga.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=57:ne ws-1&catid=1:latest-news&Itemid=50 - broken link)
Article from June talks of bidding Companies bidding for gas rights made $3.9B | pressconnects.com | Press & Sun-Bulletin
Looks like Dominion is a key player
Dominion to assign portion of Marcellus rights for $552 million, plans Dominion keystone pipeline to eastern U.S. markets (http://www.wvonga.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=78:do m-marcellus1&catid=1:latest-news&Itemid=50 - broken link)
Figure Chesapeake is also a major player but believe their stock is having some troubles so don't know how that may influence their part.

Here's the latest (and today's) info on the Marcellus Shale project.
The Marcellus Shale Today
By-the-by, it runs from NY to WV. It's not just in WV.

I'm trying to wrap my small mind around this. 15,000 down, then laterally into the strata? How do they do that?

Our neighbor just had a well drilled this summer. The well borders our property. So they could have drilled down and over into our property..and who would be the wiser? It's not like you can tell by looking?
