Bluefield leads nation in mortgage-free homes
Nice article in USAToday about places in the U.S. that have escaped the housing "mess". Bluefield is noted for having 57% of its owner-occupied homes being mortgage free, the highest rate in the nation.
Article at USA Today
Unfortunately, it also mentions that people are discovering Bluefield and similar places, so we need a counter article to discourage the hordes. Maybe along the lines of "West Virginia last in sushi consumption".

Oh Please People...I'm supposed to look at a "project" home in Bluefield over the upcoming Thanksgiving weekend. You all are scaring me now! I just wanted a "cheap" place to drop our bags when we visit WV...not something fancy. However, the "Silent Hill" and "black mold" comments make me leary. If I'm not planning to live there...is Bluefield really that bad??

Alice do you think it wise to get them their own series on bravo? Moldy bigfoot wives of bluefield county. This might backfire and vagrants from Indiana might come looking for true love.

You are too funny! This response made me chuckle......All of this Huntington being the most "overweight" city and Burlington, VT being the "healthiest" talk...it just made me smirk. I am totally not slamming overweight folks. Just the picture, the recent article on Huntington and this comment made me chuckle. I am coming from the State with the healthiest city and checking out a home in the state with the most overweight city. Kind of ironic!
