I think Charleston--unless of course you have something specific to recommend.
Thanks. |

You should check out some of the smaller communities between Huntington and Charleston and if you have time, check out Huntington as well. Along the I-64 corridor, you have Teays Valley, Hurricane, Milton, Barboursville and a few other small towns in between. Thes best thing is, there is only about 45 miles between Huntington and Charleston and most of those towns are right off of the interstate which makes them easy to get to. Teays Valley and Hurricane have a lot of nice neighbors and some quaint little shops. Milton is home to the Blenko Glass Factory which produces several awards for entertainment venues such as the CMAs and provides stain glass to many of the churches in Europe for repair work to the old cathedrals. They also produce the hand blown window panes for the White House. Barboursville is a nice little area as well that was recently discussed in another thread. Huntington has a nice downtown area with several shops and Pullman Square. The Huntington Museum of Art is a nice place to visit and there are many other local museums as well. There are also some nice parks in Huntington including Ritter Park, Harris Riverfront Park and Rotary Park. In Charleston, check out the downtown area and visit the Capitol complex as well. Hope this helps. By the way, the weather this weekend is cold and rainy. Sorry

Thanks so much, Tim.
It is the weather that has me outside West Virginia rather than in Charleston. ![]() Rain all the way from Indiana and some bad visibility. I hope it isn't raining too hard to walk around. Again, much appreciated. |

If you're interested, Lorann, I stayed at the Holiday Inn--Downtown. It was a nice enough place, central to Charleston and within walking distance of many interesting looking streets, shops and activities.
They seem to have variable prices, so perhaps if you chose this hotel, you can negotiate. I'd give it a B. |

Lorann, I had a good time in WVa--wish it hadn't snowed so much or I would have seen and done more. Charleston is lovely; and later I went up North to Morgantown, a college town and beyond hilly.
Hope you have a grand time in May! It should be beautiful. |

ontheroad,
Yeah, I can't wait to get out there!!!! My hubby already has some job offers, so that's great. I'm definately getting tired of AZ, it's already getting pretty warm, makes coaching soccer in the afternoons real fun. Thanks again for the hotel info. |
