I am going to be attending WVU for my graduate study Aug 2007. So I wanna rent a house around the campus, any advice on renting a cheap house( I may share a 2- or 3- bedrooms house with other tenants)? Generally, how much $ /m for one person in such a condition?
Besides the housing fee, how about the living fee in Morgantown?(Because of the study, I will have little time on amusement, travelling, etc.) thanks. |

If you plan on studying something that is offered downtown, than, yes, your best bet probably is finding a house with a few other people. You can get everything inclusive for $400-600/month. As a new person to a new town in a new country, I'd suggest The District. Everything (electric, internet, shuttle to class, pool, free tanning, cable, water) is included and they match you with roommates. It involves the smallest amount of hassle. I want to say it's $500-ish a month, I'm not sure. Last edited by Yac; 03-18-2007 at 07:52 AM. Reason: link removed. |

I just arrived in Morgantown--what a beautiful vista from many of the hill streets. However, I quickly got lost, and then was rescued by one of the friendly folks here.
You'd probably be best off coming to town and really checking out the town--it is rather spread out and from the "very wee bit" I've seen each area has its own distinct flavour. And folks drive fast! ![]() |

I live in the District and there are a lot of water issues...leaks and plumbing...Although it is nice how they pair you up with people and everything is included. However, you don't get local stations, you get Pittsburgh stations...meaning no local basketball and football games on TV most of the time....
Augusta on the Square is a new place downtown...everything is quite expensive...if you want something more affordable but with a little longer walk I would check out South Park...rent is often a couple hundred dollars less there than it is downtown... Rent has gone up all over morgantown though this coming leasing term because water and electric has gone up...goodluck! |

I'd definitely consider South Park. Its a quieter part of Morgantown with more a more mature feel it. I lived right by the Walnut Street bridge and it was an easy 10 minute walk to class. There is also a bus that goes through South Park. I had a 2 bedroom for less than $400 (inc utils) per person. These days, rent might be closer to $500. Please, please, please, go right past the big ugly peachish apt building at the foot of the bridge. Save yourself the trouble, the water leak probs there are about as bad as the District.

Only thing I know about Morgantown is High Street gets pretty crazy thurs-sat night, picture 8000 drunk college kids in one area. And just be ready to walk everywhere, its good exercise but does get annoying from time to time.
