Default Attn Job Seekers: Shortage of State Mine Inspectors

Heard on the news there is a shortage of State Mine Inspectors.

Don't know what training/education you have to have. Will let any interested party check that out.

The Gazette/Mail reports part of the reason is due to income but the pay doesn't look too shabby to me.
Quote:
Experienced mine inspectors earn approximately $13,000 more annually working for the federal Mine Safety and Health Administration than the $49,176 paid to their West Virginia counterparts, according to a 2006 state report. And inspectors can do even better by taking jobs with mine operators.

College degree (or) plus 5 years experience and previous Mine Foreman Certification...job is not worth the small salary...similar to the problem of keeping the State Police...translates to about 30k per year...

Mine Foremen make over 100k per year with less headaches...do the math.

250 mines requiring 5 inspections per annum...that's a lot of paper for a few inspectors...and by the way...Doug Conaway is doing an impossible job and a great one...that's dedication...Doug is a Barrackville kid, too....nice little town.
And as a coincidence, Richard Stickler, MSHA Mining Director is from that same small 'burg...must be in the water..
