Learn to sail, it free in West Virginia !
Hi folks,
My name is bob. I'm retired and a life long sailor that moved here from California. I love this state (WV.) and the people in it. They can hunt, fish, can food, grow wonderful gardens, cook anything and make you want more, however, the 0ne Thing most can't do is SAIL.
I have a small farm with its own ponds along with serveral small sail boats. Last year I started a "Basic Sailing " class with 5 students. I may just have changed some lives. And that felt good !
Starting in the spring of 2009, we start anew, this time with about eight. If you ever wanted to learn to sail, this can be your opportunity !
Now for the part, some of you may find difficult to deal with... ITS FREE !
Ps. If you read this and own a boat, know how to sail, or just want to help promote this sport, we welcome your help and comments. SMS is a true grass roots, not for profit program funded by " the Bank of Richards"

soapysails. Wow, That is so cool! I have a friend up here in Ritchie County that sails his boat on the Ohio. You may have saw him on the news a while back. His boat fell over with him and his son on it. Anyway, he's from California also. I'll give him your info.

Good for you, soapysails!
A friend of mine was wanting a part-time summer job last year and I suggested he teach sailing on our lovely Cheat Lake...He chickened out.
Thank you for posting your contact information for us..

David, you are welcome. Perhaps you can offer more infomation on that lake. Being new to WV., I continue to be on the look out for good sailing venues.

You are really offering something pretty nice. Thanks for offering it. I personally love being out on the water and have always wanted to learn to sail.. Not plausible right now but one day maybe! Great service!

Loveridingeveryday, all you have to do is look around at todays kids...(and many older folks too) TV, vedio Games,PWC and computers have taken the place of real life and all its wonders. Just can't tell you how it feels to see the smiles when they "Get it" and the sense of accomplisment missing in so many lives. I really believe it starts with giving back, just a little.
I have started a Photo Album on this site. I hope to add much more as time passes. Who knows, you may yet be a subject in one, SAILING.

Cheat Lake is a little small and the current old bridge poses a problem..even with pontoon boat canopies...but...a sailing lake exists on the top of the Allegheny Front mountain...Mt. Storm Lake...winds at about 30..and great fishing too.

22 years in the Navy, and guess what? I can't sail. Nope, not at all. Give me a sail boat, a lake, and some wind- I'll return you one wet, disappointed Aviator
I'm just down the road from you, near Hinton. My kids would enjoy something like that.
