Morgantown - Crescent Heights MHP question....
My WVU Student son has a mobile home at the Crescent Heights MHP, he recently received a letter stating that lots 1-27 were sold and he would be receiving a letter from the new landlord. I was talking to a few people in the area and they stated that they heard a rumor that parts of the MHP will be sold and condo's would be built there.
My questions...
Anyone else here if there were plans for condos at this location?
What would the options be for my son if they place was sold? Will they pay cost for him to move MH to another site (if he can find another site)? or if not, will they purchase his MH? (which I doubt).
Any info will be greatly appreciated!

Does he has a lease? I'd look at that.

He is a 'Renter with Personal Property (the trailer)
When the lease is up the landlord has no obligation to continue his lease...that is why 'adequate and 'timely notice is being given.
He will be given a time to move the personal property...At his expense of course.
rock and a hard place...sorry...
Morgantown city fathers want the Mobile Homes out of the area..new zoning regs and development are sending them to Mobile Home Heaven..
It's about Land Use and making more money...Landlords taxes have increased...money is available for development and 'shovel ready...He is setting up his income stream for the future...more value in condo's or townhouse rentals...
and your son...next year, he could be in a new condo rental...speak with your accountant...take the loss and find another Mobile Home or rental...

Not sure about the cost to move the MH, but I maintain a MH in the Morgantown area at this time (have used it for attending athletic and cultural events and so forth) and can tell you that Saint Clairs Village on Van Voorhis Road has some vacant lots for rent. It's about 2 miles from the Medical Center and just up the hill from The District, which has regular Mountain Line bus service. It's also on the Orange Line (I believe) but that line only runs every hour and 20 minutes. The 5 minute walk to The District would be used more often. Let me know if you need for information.
My hunch is there will be fewer and fewer MH places in the area as growth is making the ground more valuable for other uses.

Thanks for the info! Still not sure what will happen to the MHP, interesting that they only sold a small portion of it. My son said if it is sold then he will just strip his MH and leave it to be bulldozed.
Only frustrating thing is, he worked hard and bought it on his own and has not asked his mother and I for a penny, he works hard and pays everything on his own, and attends college full time and has retained all his scholarships (Promise, Mountaineer etc...).
He did mention that he has ZERO interest in living in one of the over priced condos in Morgantown. The landlords of the condos are raping the students with overpricing, but if their mommies and daddies will pay it, then so be it. The student that tries to make it on his own does not have a chance.
At this time, my wife and I are looking for a house to purchase for him in the Morgantown area.

found out that possibly Mylan purchased the MHP to make it into a parking lot (4.5 Million). I guess there may be possible incentives (possible moving cost).
If anyone knows of any open MHPs around Morgantown area, please let me know.
Thanks

Agree looks like there will be less and less MHP. Oldest son lived in one on the road right across from the stadium and they were torn down for condos (we had already sold his a few years before so don't know what they did with private trailers). For him , had almost bought one by Mylan - glad we did not cuz they were torn down/moved out and Mylan did an expansion. When oldest went to WVU, trailers were still the best way to go with housing.
Independence Hill on VanVoorhis still is a pretty nice MHP (has been going down over the years) however, new owners are only allowing newer trailers to move in). Seems like more and more students are moving out and permanent residents are moving in. Youngest son had a trailer there for 3 years. It's a nice quiet place, has a pool, etc. Not sure if they have any empty lots but like I said, they won't accept MH over a certain age (most of the ones already there are way over the age).
Not sure what price range you are looking for but the condos at Mountainview at Cheat Lake are very nice and it's a quiet area. They sit on the 2nd tee of Mountainview Golf Course. They aren't cheap. They currently rent them out but are selling them as tenants move out. When they have an empty one and it has not sold, they will rent them out on a temp basis.

Like I said... Saint Clairs Village on Van Voorhis Road, up the road from The District, has open lots at this time. People have even sold their trailers there, mostly to construction workers. I have been there for almost 2 years and not had a single problem. Sooner or later, they will all be changed to development. The land is just worth too much. For now, it seems they will remain trailer lots. Lot rent is not cheap... $250 per month, but that includes water, sewage, and trash.
I'll be out of town for a week, but if you want more info. like the landlord's phone, send me a private message and I'll give it to you.
