Daycare in Charleston for one child over 2 can cost $600.00+ per month (that's going 5 days per week). It depends on where it is. One child under 2 could cost you $700.00+ per month (5 days per week). Some daycares will let you pay "part-time" rates, but you are to designate what days you will attend and most likely, they cannot vary. If you are considered "full-time", and you miss during the week, you still have to pay the full tuition in most places.

My husband and I just found out he is being transfered to Poca,WV. Does anyone know of a nice but inexpensive apartment community in that area. We would like to pay between 500-650 per month. We have a 3 year old son, so we want to be in a good area.

Hope someone can give you a more specific answer but...

There are several apartment complexes in Cross Lanes which is right next door to Poca. Most apartments in Cross Lanes have been around for a while. Basically, just drive around Cross Lanes area (it's not that big) and you will stumble across several. Not sure, but there may be some near the dog track also.

I'm not familiar enough with them to tell you which are nice but do know you do NOT want Perkins Place. When looking at apartments - be sure to ask if they are HUD housing.

I'd try contacting these apartment management people:

AMS Properties Management
5400 Big Tyler Rd, Cross Lanes, WV 25313

In Cross Lanes:
There are some new ones which have gone up - can only tell you how to get there (mind blank on the road and have no idea of the names). From CrossLanes, go across I-64 bridge, turn Left at the light by the carpet place, pass TGI Friday's/Cracker Barrel/ Sleep Inn (they are on top of the hill), keep on that road and you will see them before you get to the top of the hill.

In the main road through CrossLanes, there were old ones and they are in the process of finishing up totally remodeling them. Ad says: Cross Lanes, Shady Pines, newly renovated 1, 2 & 3 bedroom apartments, small pets permitted. All utilities paid on 1 bedroom. Ask about our rent specials! 304-204-0077

Fort Hill Child Development Center is very nice, but expect to be on a waiting list they may never clear unless you know someone in South Hills and expect to pay upwards of what I quoted earlier.

Thank you so much for all the information i have received, it is greatly appreciated. I was also wondering if anybody knew of any full time receptionist positions available. When we move i would like to already have a job secured.

I am not a parent and don't play one on TV, but if I were a parent, I wouldn't want my child in a day care or preschool setting. I would opt for finding a few reliable people who do babysitting who agree with my morals, follow my instruction and will engage my child in activities I approve of.

I have worked with parents who sounded like they were walking around with pneumonia or flu and before they came to work, they dropped their children off at the day care facility! Never ever would I condone leaving a child in such a setting with so many inconsiderate adults running around.
