About the only alternative in PA is Waynesburg, but it's no closer.
Maybe you could rent an RV?

New Martinsville is going to be the closest. My dad lives outside of Reader and my family has to stay in New Martinsville when they visit. It's the closest and easiest to get to.

How far from Hundred are you willing to travel to sightsee?
What month? That makes a big difference.

South of Hundred? Stay in Fairmont, then take US 250 from Fairmont to Hundred. It really isn't any further than New Martinsville and has more accomodations available. If you go to New Martinsville, if you are coming from the south, you will be going far out of your way.

Two possible day-trips.
You could head east (either I-68 out of Morgantown, or US-50 out of Clarksburg) and go to the Blackwater Falls - Canaan Valley - Dolly Sods area.
Or, head south on I-79, take Exit 57 onto US-19, and see the High Bridge at Fayetteville and the New River Gorge.
