WV Plein Air Society 2009 Q1
I don't think such an organization exists . . West Virginia Plein Air Society is hereby created with this post.
WV artists or those passing through who want to get together sometimes and setup an easel beside a scene, let me know.

Those are very good paintings, Red Ochre, you have an observant eye and good color. I quit my job over 25 years ago to go to the Penn. Academy here in Philly. I've only gone landscape painting a few times, since I am stuck in the city without a car. I've considered selling up and moving back to WV, especially when my dad was still alive. I may do it yet. Here is a pastel I did of Great Island on Cape Cod.

Bobilee, you are wasting time...make some plans 'an git on home!
Tamarac will give money for that work...up front or on consignment...
We have some of the most scenic scapes in the country...lack of artists is a main problem.
Kevin Scanlon comes to mind...wonder why?

Let me know when you have an early afternoon available.
Tuesday looks like the next window of opportunity for setting up an easel outside.

Couple of local (Charleston) scenes I'd like to paint, but I'm always open to suggestions.
Location :
South 119 Mall, parking lot of Men's Warehouse. Asked the manager if I could paint there. Doesn't look like much on the map, but it offers a nice view of Little Creek Park behind the mall. Afternoon shadows, distant mountains, some foreground evergreens, make a nice painting.

Location :
Other is your neighborhood . . from pedestrian bridge crossing Elk River.

Was hoping some artists were lurking. Thanks for posting.
You're only 12hrs away via Amtrak. Let me know when you're coming.

David, thanks for the encouragement. I'm pretty sure it will happen, maybe take a few years more though. Probably head for the deep end of my gene pool, Cabell & Wayne Counties. Maybe I'll show up with Genesee and Red Ochre with my easel, though I am not the kind to hunker down in the snow, I'm more of a sunshine painter.

Change that location to the Outer Banks and get away from Boston...
We live here Spring and summer and then go south...Ft. Lauderdale next week!
Many here have shoppes at Buxton to sell their art...David Merrill is one who comes to mind...could not sell his work here...went to NC and it sold well...and to traveling WVians too! Now the climate has changed..Most of that mountaineer buckskin work is his art...now worth thousands...
